Solid spruce top for rich tone that matures with age

Sweetwater knows that the choice of top wood can make or break the sound of an acoustic guitar. For the 00X1AE, Martin chose a solid Sitka spruce top. Chosen as much for its look as its tone, solid spruce has a rich sound with excellent projection. And because it's a solid-wood top, the tone of your 00X1AE will age gracefully, with enhanced harmonics and greater tonal balance as the years go by.

Low-oval neck profile feels incredibly smooth

Whether you need to survive long recording sessions or plan to play out late into the night, you'll be glad you got a Martin 00X1AE acoustic-electric. The 00X1AE features one of Martin's amazing modified low-oval neck profiles, which gives you enough girth to hold onto while still allowing you to play faster lines unhindered.

Great-sounding electronics with USB connectivity

The 00X1AE acoustic-electric is equipped with the Fishman Sonitone USB pickup system, which gives you great-sounding output, onstage and in the studio. The Sonitone USB system puts volume and tone controls directly in the soundhole for easy access, and the USB output gives you plug-and-play connectivity with your Mac or PC, for instant recording in your DAW of choice.

Martin 00X1AE Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Classic Martin styling with premium Fishman electronics in a traditional dreadnought design
  • 00-body style is smaller than a dreadnought, producing more midrange-focused tone
  • Solid Sitka spruce A-Frame X-1 top bracing for maximum resonance and projection
  • Fishman Sonitone USB pickup gives you easy DAW connectivity and great-sounding amplified tone
  • Solid spruce top adds tonal richness, and will sound even better as it ages
  • Modified low-oval neck profile plays fast and smooth
Martin puts a spin on their classic guitars with the acoustic-electric 00X1AE!

Excellent value

I bought this guitar as a smaller axe that I could use for gigs, and travel. First off I think it is an excellent value. The pros? Nice wood top, clean build, and a really nice sound. It projects very well, and I am heavy with a pick. I was very pleasantly surprised! A great feature is access to the battery without loosening strings, and pulling out through the sound hole. This was a major reason why I chose this specific model. Pros: Sounds great Looks great Really durable (this is the second x series that I have owned. These are tough guitars) Nice sounding electronics Simple battery access Comfortable to play Cons Action arrived VERY high Wiring arrived loose Stratabond neck was really rough I addressed the cons immediately. With 0000 steel wool I rubbed on the neck for about 15 minutes with decent pressure. Once the neck was fairly smooth I rubbed it down with some lemon oil I had recently bought at Sweetwater. Neck feels as nice as the solid wood ones on my high end guitars. I then have the guitar to the gentlemen who sets up all my guitars. He got the action perfect, and changed the strings to my preferred D'Addarion EXP16s. (total with tax $110) I bought a Gator brand hardcase for under $80 that fit great. Sweetwater part# GWECLASSIC So for less than $800 total I have a guitar that plays, looks, and sounds fantastic. I've already used it at a few gigs, and I would highly recommend this model to anyone - beginner to pro. Sounds/plays well with a pick or fingers. I have been playing guitar for over 35 years and have owned expensive Taylors, Martins, and Gibsons. This guitar is not a high-end axe, but it IS a wonderful playing tool for your arsenal.

Good but not Really Good or Great- In my opinion!

This is my first Martin. I think my expectations may have been to high. Even after a pro set-up from a local shop which Martin recommends, I find the guitar still to be buzzy and boxy sounding. In my opinion, it is not a bad guitar but also not a Great guitar. As I rated it, it's somewhere between OK and Really Good. So I guess that a 2.5 is a Good. I agree it is Good in that it has a refined sound when all the strings ring out. I wish I would have spent a few more hundred and got a solid wood guitar. Even a used solid wood Martin may have sounded better.
