Martin 00-15M Acoustic Guitar - Satin Natural Mahogany Reviews

I have been playing for 50+ years. I own many guitars. This is my goto guitar. I changed out the cheap plastic bridge pins and put in Martins Luxe bridge pins($) and this guitar now sings! Amazing upgrade!

I'm 50 years old. Never played guitar (or any musical instrument). When I decided to learn, I asked, "What guitar did Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters play? (Answer: Gibson L-1 and Martin 00-18, respectively.) But I couldn't justify the price of either of those guitars. Then I saw the Martin 00-15M, and it said, "You want to play me."

Buying from Sweetwater was a genuinely pleasant experience for a 100% musical rookie like me. I called with questions and my sales engineer Aric had answers.

The guitar arrives on time, as advertised. After studying some YouTube videos, I finally get my fingers right, and strum a chord. Sounds great to my untrained ear. Two days later I'm at my first in-person guitar lesson. I strum a chord or two and the guitar teacher says, "That guitar sounds really good." I demur and say that I'm sure he says that to all his new students. "No," he says, "that's the best guitar I've heard in months or even years."

The sound. An American-made guitar at this price point. The look. It's got at all.

I love the mellow sound of the all mahogany body. It's great for picking some bluesy tunes/riffs. Nice size to take along as well.
The quality and sound is the reason that I like Martin.

I've had my 00-15 for a few months now, and realized I haven't done a review for it. Honestly, it is a great sounding guitar, perfect for what I've thrown its way. Personally, I prefer smaller guitars and find the 00 size is the perfect size for me and my needs, and this delivers. No, I wouldn't go to a bluegrass jam with it, but if you were getting together with friends, this would be the guitar to take IMO. Special thanks to the Sweetwater team for the awesome set-up job on it so it was perfect when it arrived at my house.

I have a 000-18 that I really enjoy and thought I'd get a mahogany guitar. The 00 size worried me at first since other smaller guitars sometimes sounded underwhelming. This guitar has a great sound completely different from my 000-18, the mids are sharper yet the guitar really sounds balanced. The size is very comfortable to play and the smell is fantastic.

I have been searching for "the one" for a few years now. I always wanted a great playing/sounding Martin but didn't always have the Money. The first Martin I bought was a DSr-1 ROAD SERIES. I wasn't really ever that impressed with it. Figured the next Martin I buy will be an American made one. That was a few years back. Just recently I spent the extra money I had on a Martin 000-15sm. That guitar has such a sweet and low end tone and it plays effortlessly. After loving the 000 I pretty much new that I was going to buy the 00-15m too because I really enjoy the general parlor size guitars. I am so glad I picked up the 00-15m. It is the Guitar I have been searching for. It almost plays itself....bar chords our zero effort. The tone is fantastic and it looks like an old cowboys guitar. For a parlor it has an impressive full body sound. Some of the cheaper parlors lack the bass and end up sounding bright and really trebly to me. If could rewind time, I might pass on 15sm because the 00-15m is so nice. I have been learning songs on it since it arrived from Sweetwater. This is a do all guitar from what I can tell so far. I hope to play on it the rest of my life if I am lucky.

I own a Gibson J-45 that I love but nothing compares with my Martin D-15 mahogany beauty. 20'yeatsbold now and an even better, smoother, warmer sound. Easy playing, great mid tones and treble, solid, not boomy bass.

I ordered this guitar and waited 3 long months to receive it. This was no fault to Sweetwater and the wait was totally worth it. My sales engineer, Austin helped out tremendously throughout those months, providing updates along the way. Package arrived in about 4 days (Shipped to Texas, FEDEX). Right out of the box, the guitar was in perfect tune. This guitar looks, feels, and even smells amazing! A true piece of functioning art. The fretboard inlays boost the classiness to a whole new level. The neck is very comfortable and smooth. I highly recommend this product, and this company.

If you want a high quality American made and all solid wood guitar, and don't have a huge budget to work with, then THIS is the guitar you want. It is worth every penny, and then some.

I have had my Martin 00-15M Dark Mahogany guitar for two weeks now. And of course, I waited a couple of days to unpack it, to allow it to acclimate. It was super cold here when it arrived.

And I have to say, what an amazing guitar!! It is the perfect size for me and my style of playing. Great neck, fingerboard AND frets, that make it super easy to play. And the guitar looks awesome, is gorgeous, is built perfectly, sounds absolutely amazing (and will only get better as it ages), and it even smells good! No kidding! LoL I LOVE this guitar!! This guitar has everything you want and nothing you don't:) From the moment I played this, I was filled with inspiration - it just seemed to draw the music from me, all the best of me.
It's smaller than a dread, quite comfortable. It's a beautiful, all wood, American made guitar. The sound is not thin in any way, shape or form, which I was worried about when I ordered it. I worried for nothing. There's plenty of growl, resonance, and body in this thing's tone. Unless your ears just love the overtones and vast bass of a dread, this guitar literally leaves nothing to be desired across the lows, mids, highs. The sound is very balanced and focused. The MLO neck reminds me of an electric guitar neck: small, fast, comfortable. A super inspiring guitar to play. If you are stuck between this and the 000-15M, just know that you'll probably be happy with either. The 000 does have a bit more bass, but most wouldn't notice the difference in sound or in appearance (this one is only barely smaller than the 000) if you didn't tell them. I chose this one because I wanted it a bit smaller, and because the 000 extra bass seemed to obscure note clarity ever so slightly, which I didn't want for my playing style (some will want that extra bass). Also has the diamond fretboard inlays - you usually only see dot inlays, so these ones are a nice upgrade. Quality tuners. The case is high quality too. Both case and guitar have a delicious scent.
I'll probably have my luthier drop the action just a tad lower and install strap buttons. I'll also have them install a Baggs Lyric pickup, which is just the sort of minimalistic pickup I think this guitar needs.

If you're looking for a guitar that doesn't sound or look like everybody else's and is gorgeous, yet rugged enough to travel with, this might very well be the guitar for you.

Quick order response, great communication updates. Arrived fast, in great condition and as advertised. Totally blown away with the Martin 15m series. Big bang for the buck = value. 00 size is so comfortable and a joy to play. Mostly finger style with lite strumming. Loving the contrast in an all mahogany verses rosewood & spruce tone. Getting great tone with either 80/20 or 92/8 strings (various brands). Added after market Mitchell plate mate and K&K Pure mini passive pickup. Lowered the action. My 6th Sweetwater guitar in 3 years. Very pleased, much Joy and happiness.

My 0015m came to me double boxed and in tune! This is not just a finger style guitar. Honestly, I"m a fairly hard strummer and this things sounds great. Bass response is impressive despite its small size and it has great volume. I guess if I really had to nitpick the sound, I"d say it could have a touch more sparkle in the high end, but honestly I think trying different strings could help that. It really doesn"t bother me. It does exactly what I want it to do. I actually prefer this model to the 00015m, something about it just sounded better to me. I can"t recommend this little guy enough!

I've had this guitar for a couple years now and totally love it. The sound is warm and emotive. It's just a joy to play. I'm not a professional musician -- I just play for fun -- but it's perfect for the times I just want to play some nice acoustic songs.

ive had this for five years and ive never played an acoustic that felt better, small body, but not quiet, slim neck almost feels like your playing a strat or something, ive noticed with the low notes on the low E string this guitar doesnt have very much bass tone, but i still wouldnt trade it for anything else, and if one day it ever broke id probably buy another 0015, mine is form 2012, i bought it new, sounds so clean and so easy to play! would recommend it to everyone, all my friends that play this guitar fall in love. The music i play is usually Bossa nova, or jazz Tom Jobim, The beatles, or john frusciante music.

I got my first Martin 015 in 1953 which is now at a shop for major top cracks repair. My fault for not keeping it in it's case during the winter heating season. Just purchased this 00-15 M and really love it's fine mellowness. I'm just a rudimentary player even after 70 years but love to do what I can do. For you guys and gals who are more proficient, play this gem and see if you agree that at this price point, it is a quality Martin solid Mahogany instrument made in the Martin tradition. I think you will love her as I do.

The Martin 00-15M is my new #1. The solid mahogany really brings out a sweet, round midrange that isn't honky, but very creamy. The treble is nice and sparkly, almost a bit of jangle, but not harsh at all and doesn't stand out as much as the beautiful midrange. The bass is very warm and tamed, just perfect in my opinion. The fretwork is stunning as is the entire fit and finish. The mahogany is very gorgeous in person, as is the rosewood bridge and fretboard. The guitar smells very nice as well; somewhat of a nitrocellulose "vanilla" smell mixed with freshly cut mahogany... Intoxicating. This thing plays like a dream too; nice, low action, but still feels like a vintage acoustic. The neck profile is a very comfortable oval C shape similar to a 60's strat in my opinion, but not quite as chunky. As with most "parlor-sized" smaller body acoustics, the sound breaks up a bit when strumming hard, but the tone is still amazing. The perfect guitar for me.

A nice addition to the collection. Sweet sound; comfortable action. A versatile hog for those times that a dreadnaught or other large guitar isn't needed. Very likable instrument! Sweetwater remains at the top of the game. Thanks again to Tommy Winter!

This Martin 00-15m is no surprize to me. It's got the balanced tone you expect from it. It's not a boomer like the bigger D-15m/DRS1 but at 63 reaching around that dreadnaught wears my shoulder out. This 00-15M being slightly larger than the Guild M120e for reference I can play all day. True Martin all hog tone kinda deeper, dark sounding w/awesome harmonics and believe it or not sustain. Anyone would be proud to own this, watch it become one of your go to daily players!

Love this little guitar. Rich sound and extremely comfortable to play. Excellent finger-style guitar that's got a surprisingly deep yet balanced tone though it can break up a bit under heavy strumming. I love the guitars craftsmanship and vintage-like simplicity. It's more comfortable to play on the couch than the 000-15M.

Sweetwater is the only place I will buy new guitars online. Their customer service is unparalleled and every guitar I've bought has arrived excellently setup.

I have always played dreadnaughts and my favorite guitar is a big boomy D35. However, I wanted to pick up a smaller acoustic to explore different sounds with and as a bonus, one that could be played more easily on the couch. I flat out love the Martin sound so I began looking at the 000 / 00 body sizes. I opted for the smaller 00 size even though I was a little concerned it could be boxy-sounding. Well, this 00-15M is anything but boxy! On the contrary, this guitar is very rich in harmonics and provides enough bottom end to produce a very balanced tone. I am very impressed with this small body guitar. Notes ring out beautifully and it has plenty of sustain for the type of music I play (bluesy/folky stuff). The 00-15M definitely produces the signature woody Martin tone. This is my first mahogany topped guitar and I find it can sparkle or emote more mellow tones depending on attack - very versatile. The 00 body size is very easy to play and the neck feels very similar to my D35. Fit and finish are superb, even on this no-frills guitar. The factory set up was very good - I just tweaked it to taste, but it played excelled as delivered.

Finally, the customer service I received from Sweetwater and in particular from my Sales Engineer, James Masterson was second to none. He entertained many questions and worked with me extensively to make the sale go smoothly and to ensure that I received a guitar I was happy with. He even offered to play a couple different 00-15Ms for me and describe set up, nuances or any differences in tone between guitars. He invited me to listen in on those sessions - wow! I am so impressed with this guitar and with Sweetwater's customer service - outstanding on all fronts. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another guitar from Sweetwater. Thanks very much!

Unmatched craftsmanship, quality materials, and a 182 years of tradition and experience. The feel, sound, ease of playing that this little gem offers is hard to beat or even compare with other like instruments in this price range. It is more than a guitar.....it is a piece of art. So much fun to spend time with it will motivate you to become a better musician. My favorite go too guitar for any occasion. Sweet!

I absolutely LOVE this guitar and had to save up for a while to afford it. It's beautifully built, sounds wonderful and fits me perfectly. The only problem is the end pin doesn't fit all the way in. I'm going to have a guitar repair tech fix the hole so the tapered pin goes in correctly.
This was the fault of Martin Guitars, but After dealing with sweetwater for a couple of years now, I would have expected them to catch something like this. That being said, it's a minor issue to have with a beautiful instrument.

the sound out of this guitar is amazing. picking resonates well, although hard strummimg can get a bit muffled at times. overall extremely satisfied!

My wife gave me a Martin 00-15M for Christmas, life is good. Nicest guitar I have ever played and I can't seem to put it down. I love the vintage look of this guitar and the craftsmanship is superb. Extremely playable, light in weight, and marvelous sound. And yes, it even smells good. I am strictly a finger picker and the 00-15M is perfect for finger picking style. I also have old and surgically repaired hands and this guitar makes me feel like a young guy again. Also very happy with the help and service from Sweetwater, they are great people to deal with.

This little guitar is homey. This mahogany provides nice warm bluesy tones (with D'Addario Silk & Steel strings). Real easy neck and plays buttery. It even smells great. I really like the no frills beauty of the wood. Definitely a Martin. Nice.....

The Martin is Fantastic. Sounds great. Action was very good. This is my 3rd Martin and they have not let me down yet, Also, the customer support at Sweetwater is tops. I would recommend them if you are looking for great gear at very good prices. Service is tops.
