| In a market that seems to have literally exploded with digital recording options, the people at Emu-Ensoniq (get used to seeing those two names together) have introduced PARIS Concept, a totally integrated digital audio recording system that lets you enter the world of PARIS at a very affordable price, but with absolutely no compromise in sound quality, features, or upgrade path. Sound good? Read on!
PARIS Concept ($1295 list) features the same exact software that ships with the larger (and more expensive) PARIS systems - meaning this is not a lite version with limitations that can compromise performance. (Who needs that, after all? You want all the features!) Now you can experience the famous PARIS sound while recording and editing 16 tracks of 16-bit or 24-bit audio, plus play back and mix up to 128 tracks of digital audio using the unique Intelligent SubMixing feature.
PARIS Concept offers powerful, easy to use non-destructive editing with 99 levels of Undo/Redo. The unique context sensitive cursor lets you easily trim or move Audio Objects and apply crossfades, without having to change editing tools. PARIS Free Form Mode lets you work with up to 999 virtual tracks, which is the perfect way to record, edit and compile multiple vocal or instrument takes. PARIS Concept includes a professional 24-bit mixer with features you would expect to see on hugely expensive hardware mixers, like 64 bands of real-time parametric EQ, (thats 4 bands per mixer channel), panning, solo in place, channel muting, all EQ on/off, channel phase inversion, numeric and graphic headroom indicator LEDs, control room monitor gain with dim/mute, realtime automation with graphic editing window, plus the ability to run third-party Direct-X and VST plug-ins, a feature not offered by many other digital recording packages. PARIS Concept also offers other powerful non-destructive DSP functions like Gain Change, Normalize/Super Normalize, Polarity Inversion, Sample Rate Conversion, Time Compression/Expansion and Pitch Shifting. And when youre ready to mix down your final project, just use the PARIS Bounce to Disk feature to capture a true 24-bit stereo recording of your mix, or record directly to DAT. PARIS Concept includes the EDS-500 PCI card, the Interface 2 two-channel audio interface (which offers full 20-bit A/D with 128x oversampling 20-bit D/A plus TRS 1/4-inch connectors), and the renowned PARIS application software for both MAC and PC. PARIS Concept includes special versions of Steinbergs Wavelab Lite (waveform editing software for PC), and BIAS Peak LE (waveform editing software for MAC). Want to add the PARIS 24-bit FX to your PARIS Concept system? Its simple! Just purchase a PARIS EDS-FX daughter board and attach it to your EDS-500 PCI card. Now you have all the DSP power of the larger PARIS systems. The EDS-500 is a cross platform, digital audio PCI card, and installs easily into either MAC or PC computers. It is the heart of the PARIS Concept system and was designed around four ENSONIQ ESP-2 DSP chips. All the audio processing is provided by this card, not by the host (your computers) CPU. This allows PARIS Concept to provide guaranteed system performance that is not dependent on the type of processor your computer is running. Other systems can get bogged down by slow processors. Two of the ESP-2 chips are devoted to disk recording only, while the other two ESP-2 chips are used strictly for supplying 64 bands of fully parametric, real-time EQ, with no latency. The EDS-500 PCI card can be expanded to the EDS-1000 card found in the Concept FX package (below) and all of the larger PARIS systems by adding the EDS-FX daughter board (sold separately, call for current pricing). The EDS-FX adds 24-bit real-time effects like compression, expansion, gating, delays and reverbs, and installs easily by plugging directly onto the EDS-500. The Interface 2 is a two channel audio interface offering two 20-bit A/D converters using 128 Xs oversampling technology, and two 20-bit D/A converters. All audio connectors are quarter-inch, TRS (tip/ring/sleeve) and can be run balanced or unbalanced. A two-position switch allows the Interface 2 to be run at either +4 dBu or 10 dBv. The Interface 2 is housed in a sturdy steel enclosure, eliminating residual noise and interference that is common when A/D and D/A converters are placed inside the host computer. Buying a PARIS Concept system makes sense, because upgrading your system is easy and absolutely nothing is wasted when you upgrade. Add the C-16 Control Surface when youre ready. Bring it home, plug it in, and start using it . . . simple. Need more I/O? No problem. Add an Interface 442, or Interface MEC and continue to build. Maybe add a 24-bit 8-channel input/output or ADAT MEC module to your setup. PARIS Concept users can upgrade without any waste, because your existing Concept Interface 2 connects to the larger PARIS interfaces, letting you gain two additional inputs and outputs, a definite plus in any recording situation! Now if you want to start your PARIS system with a step up, we suggest PARIS Concept FX, which, like PARIS Concept, is a totally integrated digital audio recording system that lets you enter the world of PARIS at the affordable list price of $1795 (your Sweetwater price will, of course, be lower) with no compromise in sound quality, features, or future upgrade path. The difference? PARIS Concept FX delivers a complete selection of realtime, 24-bit effects including: compression (stereo and mono), expansion (stereo and mono), gating (stereo and mono), chorus (mono in, stereo out), delay (mono in, mono out), long delay (mono in, mono out), tap delay (mono in, stereo out), plate reverb (mono in, stereo out), room reverb, (stereo in, stereo out) - in short, everything you need to create professional sounding mixes for your projects. All PARIS effects come with a full selection of super-useful presets, so you can start applying them to your work immediately. An unlimited number of your own custom effect presets can be stored as well. PARIS effects can be assigned freely to any of the 8 stereo aux busses, or to individual channel inserts found in the Mixer Window. PARIS Concept-FX includes the EDS-1000 PCI card (PARIS Concept comes with the EDS-500 card which can be upgraded to be an EDS-1000), the Interface 2 two-channel audio interface and the renowned PARIS application software for both MAC and PC, Steinbergs Wavelab Lite and BIAS Peak LE. PARIS Concept-FX, like all PARIS systems supports 3rd party Direct-X and VST plug-ins. Why are you still sitting there? Pick up the phone and call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for all the information you might need about the full PARIS line plus (of course) your super Sweetwater price. Dont delay another minute. |
