You can’t fault the people at Fostex for figuring out that since their FD-4 has been a hot seller, an eight-channel version might even be a bigger hit. Well, just in time for Winter NAMM, along comes the very cool, very affordable FD-8 8-Channel Digital Multitracker ($899 list). Besides comprehensive MIDI implementation (including MMC and Timecode), the FD-8 includes such red-hot features as 8 tracks of pristine digital audio in both no compression and A.D.A.C. (Advanced Digital Audio Coding) modes. What’s more, there are 16 virtual tracks for a total of 24 recording tracks in the Mastering mode plus a Lightpipe interface for easy interface with ADAT recorders. Like the FD-4, this unit ships without any hard drive, allowing you total freedom to use drives you already own or use removable media like Jaz cartridges for convenient storage of all your music. No more being locked into a fixed drive that will be out of date in a year or less. You also get an eight-input / two-bus / dual-output mixer with 3-point EQ (two shelving and one parametric).

Space prevents us from telling you all about this great machine, so call us here at Sweetwater right now for complete details and great pricing on the new Fostex FD-8.
