- Q: How do I prevent Wavelab from displaying tips everytime I boot it up?
- A: Simple: You must select the Help menu and then deselect from there. Admittedly, this is an unusual location for that utility.
-
- Q: The batteries have gone dead in my Kurzweil K2000. Okay, now what do I do?
- A: For all Kurzweil machines except the K2600, you need to replace three AA batteries with new ones. These are found in a panel on the bottom of the keyboard versions, and are in a tube-shaped cartridge on the back of rack versions (you can use a penny to turn the endcap and the cartridge will pop out).
-
- The K2600 is different: It has a 2032 cadmium battery located in the user-accessable RAM board. This is below the removable panel on the bottom of all K2600 units.
-
- Important note: Always replace batteries with the power off and the unit unplugged. And remember that material stored to PRAM (songs and objects other than samples) will be lost when the batteries are removed, so be sure to backup before you change them!

- Q: Why cant I find the drivers for my Digi001 on my PC? I know they have to be there somewhere.
- A: When you install a new device on a PC, there is usually a specific disk which contains the drivers for the new device. For the Digi001, these drivers are on the Pro Tools LE 5.01 disc in a folder called Wave Drivers 98. When the Find Driver option comes up, you must specify a location and point it to the specific folder which contains the INF / VXD file for the Digi001.
-
- When you first boot up your computer after connecting the 001, it will ask you for the drivers, so point it to the appropriate folder and it will find a VXD file and install it that way. Once this is done, you must then go to the Add New Hardware in your Control Panel and make sure you select No, I want to Select the Hardware from a List. You will now choose Sound Video and Game Controllers and then select the Have Disk option. From there you will point it to the Wave Drivers 98 folder on the Pro Tools LE disk and click OK from there and let the Wizard do the rest for you. Once that is done you may install the Pro Tools software and you are ready to roll!

- Q: Is there any way I can add MIDI to my (pre-MIDI) Roland Juno-60? I would love to layer that with my new Roland synth for a super fat sound.
- A: Its certainly possible, but it might require a good bit of legwork on your part. What you need to find is a Roland MD-8 MIDI DCB Interface. Try searching the Internet weve seen them out there, but finding one might take a while. Make sure when you locate one that it has the 14-pin connector cable.
-
- Look on the back of your Juno-60, and youll see a mysterious port marked DCB. All you need to do is plug one end of the cable into that port on your Juno and the other end into the MD-8. Once youve done that, simply select the appropriate MIDI Channel on the MD-8 front panel and you should be in business. Good luck!
