I was born and raised in Seattle into a family where music was omnipresent. My father was a jazz pianist, and his talent and encouragement were a huge reason for my focus and passion for music at an early age. This passion has followed me through life, and I feel blessed to have a position here at Sweetwater that allows me to help my customers realize their musical dreams.
I came to Sweetwater in 2002 from a studio in the Boston area that specialized in music for TV and film. We did tons of documentary work for National Geographic, Discovery and PBS, and lots of theme packages including 'Good Morning America'. Prior to that, I was on staff in the film scoring dept at Berklee College of Music where my duties included monitoring and maintaining the scoring/editing labs and producing/evaluating student scoring sessions, among many other duties. All of this real world experience translates into the knowledge to help my customers make good decisions regarding gear that will help them achieve their goals.
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

My degrees include a BA in music education and a MA in compostion/conducting from Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA). I also hold a diploma in film scoring from Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA)
The great Pacific Northwest! I was born in Seattle, WA, and spent my college years on the eastern side of the state. My first professional calling was teaching, and I spent several years on the coast as the one and only band/choir teacher for a small school district.
The studio decided to relocate to NYC and although I really loved what I was doing, I just couldn't see myself and my family making that move. I had been a huge fan of Sweetwater going all the way back to my first purchase in the early 90s, and so applying for a position at Sweetwater was the logical next step and kind of a no brainer.
It was a daily thing to sit behind a ProControl or console attached to a ProTools rig in my previous position, so my main strength would be computer based recording. Keyboards and virtual instruments are another strength.

My wonderful wife has been by my side for 23 years now. We have two boys, both musicians.
My passion outside of music is golf. I'm currently a 12 handicap and one of my main goals is to get that down to a single digit before I'm too old to walk the course! Private pilot's license (although I haven't flown for years), and I have a beautiful koi pond that I'm very proud of. I also play in band made up mostly of Sweetwater guys.
My career in the film and TV industry, working with and maintaining state of the art studio gear on a daily basis and working in a studio that relied heavily on technology best prepared me to serve my customers. Of course, Sweetwater University was an amazing educational experience.
I enjoy that we are truly a team. Everyone is there for the same reason - to help our customers achieve their goals.
In my high school and college jazz programs, I was lucky enough to perform with the likes Richie Cole, Joe Williams and Mark Murphy. The highlight would have to be sharing the stage with Dizzy Gillespie though. What trumpet player wouldn't cherish that moment! Drum & Bugle Corps was another huge part of my life. I was a soloist with the Madison Scouts, and got to perform in front of 40,000 people at Olympic Stadium in Montreal in '81 and '82.
It's always a pleasure to work with Paul and Sweetwater. Paul chatted with me about my recent purchase and even mentioned another guitar that I didn't know existed but am looking at possibly buying. The most recent purchase (Squier 50's Tele) blew my socks off. Right out of the box and into my Sweetwater purchased Fender Super Champ X2, that Tele jumped to the top of my favorites to play. And, yes, the candy in every order is greatly appreciated!

Just wanted to send you guys an email because of my awesome experience with my previous purchase. One of my items was on backorder and not only did my rep Paul Rowan contact me to let me know, he even made sure if I wanted to wait for them to all ship together or if I wanted him to ship the items that were ready and ship the backordered item later. That would've been enough amazing customer service but it doesn't stop there. Paul went the extra mile and found one of the items still in stock, even though I didn't request him to do so, and was able to ship my order out that day. It is my honest opinion that Sweetwater has the best buying experience and customer service period. I feel like I'm treated like the highest spending customer you guys have on every purchase I make. I only wish all companies were this way.

Sorry this took so long, but I've been too busy with this guitar you sold me. It truly speaks to me. Your level of service and congeniality are unsurpassed. You have earned a very loyal customer from here on in. It's always a bit nerve wracking ordering a higher end guitar on line. Your 55 point inspection went so far in alleviating these concerns. It was obvious someone had checked out the guitar, and actually played it. Thank you so much. I'm "happy, happy, happy"!

Honestly, Paul, short of giving away stuff for free, or managing to ship physical goods via e-mail, I don't know what you guys could do to improve your service. I'm a big believer in supporting local business (I don't buy anything cycling related except from my local shop), but in Sweetwater's case, I'll make an exception. Keep up the awesome work!
