In the United States, industry revenue from digital downloads far exceeds that generated by subscription streams. But in Sweden, formerly known as a hotbed of online piracy, the situation is reversed, with subscription streaming now providing 91% of music revenue versus just 9% from downloads. South Korea, Finland, and Norway also have strong subscription streaming revenues that far outpace download revenues.

The international average has 13% of revenue coming from streaming. Currently 57% of recorded music sales come from physical product (such as compact discs), which is down 74% in the past five years.
