Looking for a bass guitar that’s easy playing, with thick, chunky, punchy tone — and at a price that won’t break the bank? Set your sites on the Squier Vintage-modified Jaguar Bass Special HB!
The Jaguar HB has an agathis body and a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. It sports a large high-output humbucking pickup near the bridge for a tight, full sound. But this is no one-tone wonder. The Jaguar HB has an active 3-band EQ onboard for shaping the sound. You can dial up dark low-end rumble and thump, sparkling and cutting highs, and rich and deep midrange — or scooped midrange, if that’s your thing — with a simple twist of a dial. We’re talking a lot of flexibility. You won’t at all feel limited by having just one pickup.
The Vintage-modified Jaguar Special HB that I received played great and had excellent sustain. The finish was flawless, and the bass had no problems with noise, hum, or hiss. In other words, it was a fine instrument, right out of the box.
I’ve had the chance to play a number of different Squier basses recently, and I have to say, regardless of the price, I’ve been blown away by the build quality, the finish, and the woods, as well as by the playability and tone. It’s hard to equate how nice the Vintage-modified Jaguar Bass Special HB feels and sounds with how much it costs. This is one nice bass!
