Think that musicians are the only ones who tune up for a big gig? Scientists have discovered that spiders rely on being in tune for many aspects of their lives. Spiders tune the strands of their webs to particular frequencies, just as musicians tune their instruments. They can then sense when prey or a potential mate have entered their web by the frequencies they sense from the strands. They can locate prey in the web, distinguish potential food from a potential wife or husband, and based on the vibrations they perceive from their web.
