Wow, talk about a gorgeous guitar! Journey’s renowned guitarist Neal Schon (also recognized for his stellar contributions to Santana in the early days) worked with Paul Reed Smith to create the Neal Schon LTD Private Stock guitar. Only 60 of these guitars will be made, and we’ve got two — one in Raspberry Fade and the other in McCarty Burst.
The Neal Schon LTD is a semi-hollowbody guitar for extra depth, resonance, and dimension to the tone. The instrument uses mahogany for the body and Private Stock-grade curly maple for the top and neck. The fingerboard is ebony with a 10-inch radius and a 25-inch scale length. Paua bird inlays with mother of pearl outline matched with an HG nitro finish establish the beautiful finishes. The tone comes from two Collection Series humbucking pickups with master volume and tone controls and a three-way selector switch. This guitar is stunning in appearance and even more stunning in tone; from jazz to rock, the Neal Schon LTD can cover it.
But what really sets this guitar apart (as if all of the above weren’t enough) is the Floyd Rose tremolo system — when was the last time you saw a semi-hollowbody with Floyd installed? Having a locking trem takes this guitar to an entirely new level, offering the utmost in expression with no tuning issues.
