Paul Reed Smith Guitars will be expanding their popular SE line of instruments with the SE Kingfisher and SE Kestrel, the first basses in the SE family. Designed in the PRS Maryland shop, both basses will feature neck-thru construction resulting in powerful sustain and a balanced tone.
The Kingfisher delivers old-school character with a swamp ash body, 24-fret maple/walnut neck, and 34″ scale length. Proprietary 4B ‘H’ humbucking pickups provide top-end clarity with tons of punch and midrange growl. Three finishes will be available: Natural, Scarlet Red, and Tortoise Shell.
The Kestrel features an alder body, a 22-fret maple/walnut neck, and 34″ scale length. PRS’s 4B ‘S’ single-coil pickups offer a focused punchiness with rich harmonics and sweet top end, complemented by thumping lows and growling mids. The Kestrel’s three finishes will include Black, Metallic Red, and Tri-Color Sunburst.
