Q: “When I launch Pro Tools LE 6.4, it freezes while loading plug-ins. What can I do?”
A: In many cases, removing the demo plug-ins that came on your Pro Tools installer disk stops the problem. Here’s how:
1. Check the Mac HD > Applications > Digidesign > Pro Tools folder for files named “timecode.dll” and “OMF.dll.” Drag these two items to the trash.
2. Launch Pro Tools LE. If it freezes again while loading plug-ins, note which plug-in is loading when it freezes. Then force quit Pro Tools by pressing the Option-Apple-ESC keys.
3. Go to Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Plugins. Locate the plug-in you noted in step #2 and drag it to the trash.
You may need to repeat steps 2 and 3 a few times to locate and remove all the “offending” demo plug-ins.
