With all of these features packed in at this price, you have to check out the X-Station.
This was my first venture into the world of synths and I have to say, I am sold. The X-Station has got one of the best out-of-the-box experiences I’ve ever had with ANY piece of gear. Just plug it in, turn it on, and play the first preset. Then start tweaking knobs, sliders, and buttons, and the next thing you know it’s five hours later. That is how addictive this piece is.
Not only does the X-Station come with 200 great presets right out of the box, but they’re all so easy to edit that I was creating new sounds in minutes. There are no complicated menus to scroll through and no intricate interface to learn. There are just a ton of hardware controls (all clearly labeled) that you can play with. The X-Station also has some great sounding effects built in that can all be tweaked to your tastes.
One really cool feature about this synth is that it’s also a USB audio interface. It has two XLR/TRS combo jacks that you can route straight into your favorite DAW via the included USB cable. The preamps on the inputs are very usable and, if you’re just starting your home studio, this piece is a must. Not only do you get a great synth and audio interface but you get an awesome hardware controller.
All of the knobs, faders, buttons, and transport controls can be used to control your favorite software. The X-Station comes preprogrammed with over 40 templates based on some of the most popular audio software. Just choose the template for the software that you’re using and all of your controls are automatically mapped out to the correct knobs and faders. With all of this functionality packed in at this price point, you owe it to yourself to add the X-Station to your setup.
