Martin Announces John Mayer D-45

John Mayer has a longstanding history with Martin. Long before his 2003 OM-28 and now-standard-issue OMJM, John has depended on Martin to bring his unique brand of folk, blues, and pop music to life. His latest Custom Signature Edition guitar, the D-45 John Mayer dreadnought, celebrates a bolder, more traditional sound that Mayer puts to good use in his current role as co-guitarist for Bob Weir’s Dead & Company. This specially appointed D-45 is limited to a run of just 45 the world over. Each instrument comes hand signed by Mayer himself, to the delight of any fan or collector.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be John’s acoustic guitar of choice for nearly 20 years,” says Martin Director of Marketing Chris Thomas. “Considering the robust sound and level of appointments, we expect them to be completely spoken for before the close of the NAMM Show in January.”

John’s exclusive D-45 promises legendary Martin performance alongside charmed antique looks. Mayer’s personal touches include a hand-filling Full Thickness mahogany neck, a stunningly aged Engelmann spruce top on Guatemalan rosewood back and sides, and gold open-gear tuners with butterbean knobs.

Sonically, the D-45 John Mayer is as versatile as its namesakes: strummed chords come across rich and full, with a presence that floats to the top of a mix; leads and fingerpicking take on soul, sustain, and sparkling harmonics courtesy of John’s unique tonewoods and C.F. Martin’s time-honored construction, including forward-shifted X-bracing and distinguished dovetail neck joint.

With only 45 of these guitars available, they’re bound to go quick. Contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer to find out if the Martin D-45 John Mayer is right for you.
