Bass players are picky, and unlike many guitar players, who choose a specific instrument based on whatever model his or her favorite artist is using (though they’ll deny the fact), they want the best playability combined with the finest tone-shaping capabilities available. Whether it’s rock or reggae, the 4-string Tobias Basic will effortlessly handle any situation and look good doing it. With a two-piece walnut body in a natural finish that brings out the beauty of the wood, plus a five-piece Asym neck-through design, this is truly a masterpiece of modern bass design.
Onboard the 4-string Basic are two Bartolini curve-top neck and bridge pickups matched to a custom-voiced Bartolini preamp system. This allows bass players to dial in their own unique sound rather than letting the manufacturer do the voicing. Controls include a master volume with push/pull Slap Tone, pan-pot, bass, midrange and treble with mid-cut boost. The natural maple neck-through design is totally unique, making this bass instantly recognizable. The asymmetrical neck is of five-piece construction with purple heart or bubinga stringers (depending upon current stock availability) and has a pao ferro fingerboard with 24 frets and a 34-inch scale. Naturally it ships in a high quality hardshell case.
