As you’ve no doubt heard, 2006 is Fender’s Diamond Anniversary (1946-2006). To celebrate this milestone, the company decided to build some truly awesome commemorative examples of their best-selling guitars and basses. Not surprisingly, we sold out of all the 60th Anniversary Fender guitars and basses in record time. So naturally, we asked Fender to build us some more – so they did! Among the second wave of instruments are three gorgeous examples of the Fender 60th Anniversary Commemorative American Jazz Bass, which is a premium quality collector’s item that boasts a number of custom features. Anyone who wants to own a piece of bass guitar history should grab these before they’re gone, because after 2006, Fender isn’t going to build any more (and trust us, they mean it!).
The 60th Anniversary Commemorative American Jazz Bass combines classic tonewoods with modern enhancements for superb playability and (naturally) world-class sound quality. The body is of select alder, finished in a jewel-like 3-color sunburst. The trademark “C”-shaped maple neck is graphite-reinforced and the rosewood fingerboard has rolled edges, medium jumbo frets, and classic white pearloid position markers, while the headstock includes a special 60th Anniversary jeweled inlay. Also onboard are two U.S. Vintage single-coil pickups (in the mid and bridge positions) and then Fender added a modern twist with their extremely versatile S-1 Switching to offer a remarkable selection of tones. A string-through-body bridge and cast open-back machine heads complete the feature set. The bass ships in a special 60th Anniversary commemorative hardshell case.
