Is there another acoustic guitar in the world as gorgeous as the Gibson L-200 Emmylou Harris Model – particularly at its price? True lovers of curly maple certainly couldn’t ask for a more stunning example than what’s used on this guitar’s back, sides, and neck. Even the top is breathtaking thanks to the custom-engraved tortoiseshell pickguard, the trademark Gibson “moustache” bridge, and real mother-of-pearl crown inlays on the premium rosewood fingerboard. Of course, looks aren’t everything. But we’re happy to report that this guitar sounds every bit as good as it looks – and that’s saying a lot! Although it looks very similar, the L-200 Emmylou Harris Model is slightly smaller and thinner than the SJ-200 it’s based on, but the overall tone is classic Gibson.
Of course, the solid Sitka spruce top has a lot to do with the overall sound and it’s enhanced by 6-ply binding on the top with 4-ply binding and checkerboard marquetry on the back. A nice modern touch is the inclusion of a Schertler Bluestick Transducer pickup system for those times when you need to fill a large room or hall with the sound of a real acoustic guitar. Unlike some other systems that color the sound and make it a bit harsh, you’ll be grinning ear-to-ear when you hear just how natural the amplified sound of this guitar is. Gibson doesn’t make many of these and we’re thrilled each time we have one in stock that will ultimately end up in the hands of some lucky guitar player. Naturally, with an instrument this fine, it ships absolutely free via FedEx directly to your doorstep in a deluxe Gibson plush-lined hardshell case.
