...The J-Bass is brilliant - growl, definition, clarity.
I owned an American Standard Jazz Bass some years ago. Its playability, comfort, broad range of tones and dependability accompanied me to every gig – then I sold it. What a mistake. After having spent the last week with Fender’s redesigned American Standard J-Bass, I realized that soon I would own one yet again.
In the studio, the J-Bass is brilliant – growl, definition, clarity. The new S-1 switching (series/parallel pickup configurations) offered even more depth to the instrument. When played live, the Jazz is easy on the shoulder and fast in the hands: lightweight and slim-necked. The Fender build quality is superb, with excellent fit and finish, well-dressed frets, good setup, and solid hardware. With its versatility, comfort, and quality, the American Standard Jazz Bass is truly a bargain.
