The Roland TM-2 Trigger Module allows easy integration of electronics to your acoustic drum set. Whether you want to add percussion, electronic drum sounds, samples, loops, backing tracks, or simply enhance the miked sound of your acoustic drums, this compact, easy-to-use module does that and more.
The TM-2 has two trigger inputs that also accept dual triggers, effectively making four available, that are instantly compatible with Roland RT-series acoustic drum triggers and Roland V-Drum pads. At 5-3/8″ wide, 5-1/8″ deep, 2-3/8″ tall and weighing a mere 13 oz, the TM-2 seamlessly fits into your existing set-up. The mounting plate allows it to be attached to a hi-hat stand or drum rack with a standard multi-clamp and the option of using four AA batteries to power it means you don’t have to introduce an AC cable into your drum kit, but if you choose to, there is an included AC adapter.
The TM-2 has 162 internal sounds including kicks, snares, toms, cymbals, percussion, and electronics; appropriate for any style of music. Among those 162 sounds are Element sounds, designed to add the missing ingredients back to or beef up the sound of your miked acoustic drums played through a PA. These sounds can be assigned to the trigger inputs and saved into 99 different “kits” and the large, easy-to-press buttons let you call up different kits as you perform. An SDHC card slot allows you to access your own WAV sounds that can be used as instruments, loops, or songs. You can process all of these sounds with onboard multi-effects that include reverb, flanger, and delay; then send them out via the two, 1/4″ or single 1/8″ stereo outputs. MIDI in/out jacks are available to trigger external devices, record MIDI data, play sounds in popular music software, or play the TM2’s internal sounds from an external device.
Roland has a long history of great, sampled and electronic drum sounds. With it’s compact size, extensive onboard sound library, intuitive programming, and ease of use, the Roland TM-2 Trigger Module is an excellent way to introduce electronics to your acoustic drum set.
