Bias Beat

A high-frequency tone occasionally heard in analog recordings when two tape recorders are synched in order to simultaneously record the same signal. The beating heard is the difference between the bias frequencies of the two tape machines. The solution is to synchronize the two recorders so their oscillators have the same bias frequency, a capability found built-in to some machines.
