Neumann introduced their latest large-diaphragm condenser microphone at AES 2013, the TLM107. Available in matte nickel (TLM107a) and black (TLM107mt), the new mic is aimed at project studios, though its performance and pricing make it ideal for any recording situation. All functions on the mic are controlled by a navigation switch, with corresponding LEDs displaying the current settings. The dual-diaphragm capsule was inspired by the company’s top-of-the-line D-01. Omnidirectional, wide-angle cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure-8 polar patterns are available, along with a 6dB or 12dB pad, and a 40Hz or 100hz low-cut filter. Transformerless circuitry provides linear response with a slight high-frequency boost, and self-noise of just 10dB-A. SPL up to 153dB can be managed (with pad engaged).
