About Epiphone Electric Guitars

For more than 150 years, Epiphone has been offering musicians timeless instruments and has become a familiar name in genres such as jazz, psychedelic, rock ’n’ roll, and many more. Although they started out crafting mandolins in what is modern-day Turkey, it wasn’t until the early 1900s in New York that Epiphone moved to more popular instruments and came to rival the industry heavyweights. One of those heavyweights was Gibson, who was aware of Epiphone’s potential in crafting instruments that were on par with theirs. The two companies went back and forth, creating some of the best archtop guitars, banjos, and more until the ’50s, when owner Epaminondas Stathopoulos died of leukemia and his younger brothers took over. Gibson soon acquired Epiphone in 1957, and it became their budget brand. Epiphone would quickly rise again after the advent of rock ’n’ roll and the British invasion, when bands such as the Beatles, Roy Orbison, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, and more wielded Epiphone guitars. That success has remained strong, as today you can find Epiphone guitars that suit every skill level. From affordable beginner models to higher-end guitars for touring or hobbyist guitarists, Epiphone has an electric guitar waiting for you.
