Speaker Angle for Stadium Seating

bholaday

Hi,
We have a weekly meeting in a room on campus at Purdue. The room has stadium seating like this:

We have standard speaker supports that rise about 7 feet off the ground. Should we use some angle adapters to angle the speakers up 15 degrees? (about the same angle that the room rises) like this:

You may not even need to angle the speakers back (though you can if you want). Most loudspeakers have enough vertical coverage in their design to handle situations like this. If we knew your speakers, and had a good drawing (with measurements) of the venue we could probably figure it out for you. Or you can just try what you have and see how it works.

When tilting is needed, this is the ticket: http://bt-12.com/about.php

What typre of show are you doing? Just one voice to 300 seats? How many speakers do you have? You still want the person sitting in the last row to hear every word. They don't have an overhead system in that room? PICK nultiple cabinets that have horns in them. You want something with a long throw. Say 3 cabinets per side. 1 set to hit the first 5 to ten rows, NO TILT. 2nd set of cabinets hit row 4 to 15. Tilt them. 3rd set to hit row 12 to the back of the room. Everyone is then happy. GOOD LUCK MY FELLOW BOILERMAKER!
