Returning to Guitar after 25 years, where to start

Nightorchid70

Hi Friends
Im just new on Sweetwater Forums, So Hello to All
I used to play casually about 25 years ago, I owned a Fender Strat through a Peavey Valve. However, I ended up turning to keyboards as I developed a love of Movie Soundtracks.. I bought an Yamaha SY77.
Yet Ive never lost that inner desire, so Ive decided to go back, but only have a tiny knowledge of what I did, so which guitar should I start back on if:
Please excuse me if my knowledge is a little rusty:)
I looking to aim for a warm rounded sound like Knofler, Rothery or chet atkins, not a high speed metal sharp sound like Vai, Orianthi or Malmsteen, but would still like to re-develop my old skill so I can do runs and tapping, so not too high an action with a full 24 fret fingerboard
It would be nice to have a locking tremolo for rothery style playing but not really for dive bombing, but not essential.
Am I right in thinking I need to check the frets and the pick ups are level, so I don't want to for a cheaply set up Encore, maybe something like the cheaper Ibanez or a Telecaster, but which would be better for that rounder sound.
I have about $450 to spend.
Many Thanks
Night

Welcome Nightorchid70,
Ibanez makes great guitars in/around that price point...also ESP makes (if you can stretch the budget just a bit) a LTD Lynch model that has a great locking system:

ESP also has some great guitars within your range:

Hi Richard
Thank you for your welcome and your fast replay.. the particular 2 models I have looked at are:
Schecter Omen Exrreme 6, Ibanez RG350MZ, but really like the ESP George Lynch, however, PRS are a little pricey at this point as this may just be a flash of nostalgia... but iam prepared to consider other models you or anyone could recommend.
Im also looking at a model I can play out of the box or a shop can set up and check for me quickly without costing me a fortune to fix a bad factory setup that a cheap model would.
Thanks
N
