Guitar through a Bass amp

bigbottom

I play bass in a 3-piece rock band. We have recently decide that in order to fill our sound out more, we will begin searching for a second guitarist. I had the idea though to play a guitar through my Fender Bassman 300. Will I damage my amp if I try this. I play lots of chords with distortion to fill in our lacking lower mids.
