Power Amp for Subwoofers

Hey, I'm looking at getting a Yamaha Club V series 2x18 subwoofer. (I know its a beast, but I prefer putting my subs together anyway for reduction of comb-filtering issues and coupling boost - might as well go cheaper and get the double) It has a 1220W rating at 4 Ohms. I'm trying to decide what kind of amp I should get. Id like to stay under $500, and given that I'm only running one of them, at 4 ohms, we're probably talking about bridging the amp. Any suggestions on that? I'm not sure how to look for power amps, its hard to tell whats really under the hood from most of the stats posted with them, because power supply is such an overlooked essential.
