Mic Preamp to Polycom

Hi All
We have 2xaccoustic magic mics (http://www.acousticmagic.com/acoustic-magic-voice-tracker-i-array-microphone-product-details.html) hooked up (via y adapter) to a Polycom VT1000's Aux In (http://www.polycom.com/products/voice/conferencing_solutions/conference_phones/soundstation/soundstation_vtx1000.html)
The sound is a bit low for people on the end of the call and the room is a bit echo-y. (they say it sounds like you're in a tin can). Could i use a mic preamp to boost the signal going in to the polycom and reduce the "talking in a tin can" sound with some tone controls.
If so, any suggestions
(The mics will also be swtiched to a USB adapter for vidoe conferencing on Mac)
