Firewire 400 to 800

Invert48

I bought a presonus firestudio project. then I got a new macbook and I didn't realize that it didnt have the regular firewire. If I use a 400 to 800 cable will that work? according to someone on amazon they have an mbox and a mac and it worked that way. could the firestudio project be any different?

It should be fine. You wouldn't even need a different cable, just an adapter where you plug the 400 cable in one side and plug the adapter into the 800 port on the Mac.

Yup, firewire is backwards compatible.
Just remember if you have several devices on the chain, you want the 400 devices LAST so that everything else will stay at 800 speeds. For example:
Computer -> fw800drive -> fw800drive -> fw400interface
