MP3 Players for live backing tracks

cmozart

I'm looking for a portable MP3 player that you can scroll and navigate to find you next song while the current song is playing...without any audio interruption. For example, with I-Pods, when you navigate, it creates a brief drop-out in the song playing. Thanks!

If you want no dropouts, then you have to setup the way DJ's do:
You'll need two iPods going into a mixer.
They even make mixers now with dual iPod docks.
Or you could use a laptop/netbook running mp3s with a DJ application.

A mixer and two MP3 players is what you want to do. Anything else and you're going to be working harder than you need to to get the result you want.

backing tracks to sing to?
I use iTunes with my PowerBook and my iPod Touch as the remote. With the "sounds" turned off, my iPod Touch has no drop out when searching for other tracks to play either.
Others are using MCPro software from www.mcpro.com for backing tracks for singing.

I wanted to point out a link which can be useful :
SyncInside - Backing tracks advanced player
www.syncinside.net
Camera Connection Kit and a Class compliant USB sound card are required to exploit the multitrack features.
