Help with Roland FD-8 Hi-Hat Pedal

kmgprod

Just bought a slightly used TD-3 kit with FD-8 pedal right out of the box. I set it up as directed in manual but with no response from pedal.
The Hi-Hat pad is always opened. When I insert jack to pedal I get the closed sound but pedal does not work when pressed closed or open.
Anyone know something I don't? FD-8 challenged.
Ken.

Not sure if this is the problem or not, but you may check to make sure that the cable you are using is a TRS cable and not a mono cable. I believe that the foot controllers use the TRS (you could call it stereo cable, 2 black rings).

The cable is right. I have to practically stand on the pedal to get a closed sound. It is not a fluent hi hat control at all.
Roland says it needs service. It has barely been used. Any experience with Roland service?
