Motif or RS7000

studio 51

What are the difference between Motif and RS7000?
Is the sound in RS7000 as good as Motif?
How about the sampling function? Both groove sampling?
Motif sound like EX5?
RS7000 or RM1X, which one is better?
Will yamaha hv any update 4 both product? Yamaha rarely hv update os and other stuff 4 their synth!
Anyone can answer these question 4 me?
Thanks!

Is the sound in RS7000 as good as Motif?
-they both have the same sound engine. different presets but the same engine.
How about the sampling function? Both groove sampling?
-Sampling is similiar. but generally speaking, the RS7000 is set up more for groove oriented music. Hip hop, R&B, think mpc2000. the Motif is laid out more for the songwriter. Think XP80 or K2500.
Motif sound like EX5?
-no, it's a totally different sound engine
RS7000 or RM1X, which one is better?
-RS7000 has more featues and is more powerful. It also costs more
Will yamaha hv any update 4 both product? Yamaha rarely hv update os and other
stuff 4 their synth!
-I don't even think Yamaha can answer this one. It probably depends how popular these become. Everyone I know who owns one loves them.
hope that helps

Thanks Bob! I think I get some idea. How about if I hv A5000 and EX5, do u think I should get the Motif?
or if I hv those EMU latest dance modules, should I go 4 the RS7000? so I can carry the RS7000 around!

those are tough questions to answer without more information about what your doing. SO, What are you looking to do? Why do you feel you need another synth/sampler/workstation? What is the eX5/A5000 not giving you that you feel you need?

Thanks again, Bob!
I bought the EX5R years ago and I never get the new os chips from yamaha. Edit pages suck! I hate the manual. All I like most from the module are the pad and keyboard sounds.
Reason why I bought the A5000 b/c I hv no sampler be4. And, it is good. Again, the manual really confuse me. Lately, I got a copy of Yamaha Sampler HandBook from Future Music Magazine and some problem were solved.
I am interest those groove box b/c I am doing some project that involve some dance elements in it. I think the MPC is too old. Korg and Roland are too common. I like 2 buy one that can sample and hv cool internal sounds in it. So, RS7000 is my only choice.

I think the RS7000 is a great choice. Do you buy your gear from Sweetwater??
