Join Mark Hornsby behind the glass as he records live in Sweetwater's Studio A. Mark will walk you through the entire recording process from setup to final tweaks. Throughout the session, Mark will guide you through his process, explaining how he renders technology "transparent," creating an intimate listening experience between the featured artist and the audience.

Peter Erskine, Grammy award-winning drummer

Peter and his Dr. UM band earned a nomination for Best Jazz Instrumental Album at the 2017 Grammy awards this year. Their new album, Second Opinion, was recorded and co-produced by Mark Hornsby at Sweetwater Studios. This is a truly unique chance to learn how they did it! Check out our "The Return of Dr. UM" video on our inSync blog. Throughout his career, Peter has appeared on more than 700 albums and film scores. Along the way, Peter has also picked up a pair of Grammy awards and an honorary doctorate from Berklee School of Music. Peter is also professor of practice and director of drumset studies at the Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California.

Mark Hornsby

Mark Hornsby, Sweetwater Studios Director of Operations and Senior Producer/Engineer

Mark is an award-winning producer, engineer, musician, writer, and lecturer. Mark is known for his work with a wide variety of artists across many genres of music, from Garth Brooks and Alison Krauss to Godsmack, Steven Curtis Chapman, Big Big Train, Peter Erskine/Dr. Um, and the London Philharmonic. He has owned recording studios, designed music software, and consulted for high-end audio companies including ATC, Drawmer, Crane Song, Tube Tech, Daking, and GML. He has lectured at universities and music conferences all over the world and built two record labels in the US and Latin America. See Mark’s video profile.
