Get Impressive Acoustic Tones, Wherever You Go!

A travel guitar shouldn't simply be a scaled-down version of a regular guitar. That's why Traveler Guitar brings you the purpose-built Ultra-Light Nylon. You'll love its full-scale neck and great playability, and the full, detailed sound you get from its Traveler Piezo Pickup is astonishing. That said, this 3-pound, 28-inch-long nylon-string acoustic-electric guitar is small and lightweight enough to take anywhere — it even fits in airline overhead bins! If you're looking for easy portability, you can't go wrong with the Ultra-Light Nylon.

Plays like a full-sized instrument

Can a travel guitar feel and play like a full-sized instrument? Yes, it can — and the Ultra-Light Nylon is proof! This compact guitar features a 24-3/4-inch-scale neck, topped with a black walnut fingerboard. Its detachable lap rest puts it in the kind of comfortable playing position you'd expect from a full-sized guitar. What's more, you can easily detach the lap rest, for a super-compact setup that stows easily in its included gig bag.

Piezo pickup offers tonal diversity

The Traveler Guitar's Ultra-Light Nylon guitar is wired for sound. The under-saddle piezo pickup delivers a wonderfully balanced amplified acoustic tone. Piezo pickups have become legendary among players who love the fact that they are designed to pick up the vibrations of the strings and translate them to great acoustic tone.

Proprietary In-Body Tuning System

While the Ultra-Light Nylon uses standard tuning machines, its proprietary In-Body Tuning System relocates them into the guitar's body. This eliminates the need for a headstock, while providing you with a full-scale playing experience on an instrument that’s 31% shorter and 43% lighter than a full-sized acoustic.

Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Nylon Features:

  • 3-pound, 28-inch-long acoustic-electric guitar is small and lightweight enough to take anywhere
  • Small enough to fit in an airline overhead bin
  • Full 24-3/4 inch scale length means you don't have to compromise on feel
  • Eastern American hard maple neck-through body delivers awesome sustain
  • Traveler Piezo Pickup provides impressive acoustic tone plugged in
  • Heavy-duty gig bag included

Happy New Traveler Guitar Man!

I just got mine. It is a bit different than the one shown on the Sweetwater site as it has a black rubber sleeve on the clip on leg rest that makes it much easier to hold. It stays put. At first I wasn't sure because of terrible string buzz. The neck was too flat, even maybe a tiny bit of back bow. Using the easy-to-access truss rod and taking my time, I now have great action and no buzz. For what it does, it is great! Some may find the frets stick out a bit; I was going to file them a little but quickly found I didn't notice it anymore. Very solid, ingenious, tuners allow very fine adjustments. I have better luck tuning with a Snark clip on then a plug in chromatic for some reason. I agree with a video review I saw that this would benefit from higher tension strings than they provide, but that is a taste thing. I already ordered the next step up in D'Addario line on tension (high), and if that isn't enough I will try the "very hard" and see what happens. They are good strings, I may eventually try GHS very hard with the smoother wound bass strings. As an electric and steel-string player I am used to sliding but the bass strings make a lot of string noise so you have to lift and move (fretting finger). The piezo pickup is extremely sensitive. I use a Fishman Platinum DI when I plug into my acoustic amp, and I think this would benefit from some compression. If you look at this as what you get for what you pay for, it is wonderful. This I know, I travel quite a bit including internationally, and I will never have to leave the guitar behind again.
Music background: Intermediate guitar player. Played 50 years and counting.

Portable Classicsl

I really love my Classical nylon string Traveler. Very easy to take anywhere. Very quiet to others but put on a headphone amp, from Traveler, and headphones and you can enjoy playing anywhere. As always, I got a personal call from Sweetwater about the guitar and it arrived ready to play. Their service, selection and knowledge are outstanding.

Traveler guitar Ultra light nylon

Mine arrived yesterday. Easy and fun to play. My big complaint is there's no tone or volume control.
When plugged into an amp, the slightest movement of the fingertips over the strings is very loud. It will
take a lot of getting used to and modifying my string touch before I'm ready to used it on stage. I bought
it specifically to use on my band's intro to the live version of Hotel California, as well as Layla unplugged.
It'll just take some work on my part to pull it off.
