The Classic Tape-style Analog Delay, Now Smaller

The Way Huge Smalls Aqua-Puss Analog Delay MkIII enchants riffs and fortifies leads with pure analog bucket brigade goodness. This reduced-size 'Puss packs all the tricks — including self-oscillation and chewy tape-style echo — of its larger namesakes. Operation is delightfully straightforward: set the length (Delay) and number (Feedback) of repeats and then blend to taste using the wet/dry (Blend) control. The Blend control is where the magic of this pedal lives, giving the MkIII a musical range that spans subtle coloration to ghostly wails and moans. The Aqua-Puss really shines for rockabilly-type slapback, where it's able to add depth and character without stepping on an arrangement. An added boon is the MkIII's true hard-wire bypass switching, which better preserves the integrity of your signal when disengaged.

A classic reborn

Few guitarists are lucky enough to own an original V1 1990s Aqua-Puss. Fortunately, Way Huge has faithfully revived this classic studio-style analog delay in its MkIII, at a fraction of the cost and size of the original. Like the original, the Aqua-Puss MkIII is equipped with 20ms–300ms of analog delay time and imparts the classic BBD warmth, darkness, and degradation, as well as self-oscillation, that delay mavens go gaga for. You're not likely to have an original Aqua-Puss on your pedalboard, but with the MkIII from Sweetwater, its prized tones are just a click or call away.

"Everything the big one was, except smaller." — Bob Cedro, Dunlop/Way Huge

Way Huge is as famous for its defiantly chunky enclosures as its genre-bending tonal sugar. The Way Huge Smalls series offers all the charm of its full-sized contemporaries — tone, cheek, and visual impact — in a more board-friendly format. These pedals don't just conserve real estate; they sip current, which means you can run a board full of them with little to no impact on your power supply. The metal enclosures, jumbo knobs, and iconic Way Huge graphics authentically capture the full impact of these reborn classics, with no hit to vibe or ability. A feature we at Sweetwater were quick to note was the Smalls series' true hard-wire bypass switching, which promises to better preserve the integrity of your signal when disengaged.

The Aqua-Puss Analog Delay MkIII runs on a standard 9V power supply or 9V battery — both sold separately.

Way Huge Smalls Aqua-Puss Analog Delay MkIII Features:

  • All the tone and tricks of the full-sized Aqua-Puss — only smaller
  • Better suited to tight pedalboards
  • 20ms–300ms of pure BBD analog delay with self-oscillation
  • Straightforward operation
  • Wide musical range
  • True hard-wire bypass switching preserves signal integrity
  • Low current draw (16mA)
  • 9-volt battery or power supply required; not included

Nice analog delay tones!

I'm not a huge delay guy, but for the short warm delay tone that I do enjoy, this does a great job!

Great delay

Does an amazing job for country style leads among other things.

Subtle but impactful

While this pedal does not offer the versatility like some of the new digital delay pedals on the market, it is excellent at achieving the desire sounds that is expected from an analog pedal. It is great at creating a slap back sound and if you turn the feedback dial up just a little it widens your sound and makes it sound fuller more than an actual delay response. Its great when you want your lead tones to stand out which is the way I use this pedal. You can also get crazy delay sounds from this as well. But you have to ask yourself are you in the market to get the most bang for your buck? If so then a digital delay pedal that offers more options is probably the best way to go. However if you know the sound you want to get without having to spend hours dialing it in this pedal is a no brainer. The Aqua-puss makes me appreciate pedals that are easier to plug and play without having to spend hours playing around with several knobs to find the perfect sound. Plus the bright blue design is an added bonus.

Aqua Puss MKIII

Does everything I need and more!!!!

Set it and forget it

When it comes to an "always on" short delay or doubling delay, this gets the job just fine. Not quite as dark as the MKI, but that's okay with me. I tend to like a bright tone and it works excellent for my rig. I normally use digital delays for echo and dotted 8th note delay sounds so this works absolutely perfect for an always-on short delay.
