Plug-ins to Make Your Audio Sound Amazing

The Overloud Gems Bundle includes 13 Gem Series plug-ins designed to make your audio sound amazing: Comp76, EQ495, TAPEDESK, EQ84, Dopamine, Sculptube, EQ550, CompG, ECHOSON, Comp670, OTD-2, Comp LA, and VOICE.

FET compressor plug-in with Parallel and M/S Modes

The Overloud Comp76 builds on the brilliance of a legendary late-'60s FET compressor-limiter. All the character and features of the original hardware — including all-buttons-in mode — are faithfully represented in this plug-in, as well as some advanced tools for modern producers. An integrated Dry/Comp knob permits parallel compression without any complicated routing. A sidechain input lets you de-ess vocals or keep bass frequencies full under extreme settings. And a Mid/Side mode with independent stereo and mono controls suits this compressor even to the master bus. Despite its realism, the Comp76 is refreshingly light on resources and comes packed with helpful presets for real-world mixing applications.

Make your mixes sound great everywhere

Overloud has distilled the essence of a rare, coveted analog hardware disc-cutting equalizer into a convenient plug-in. Their series EQ495 gives you five bands to play with: highpass and lowpass filters, smooth low- and high-frequency shelving (each offering a choice of three hinge frequencies), and a serious midrange section that bears further discussion. A generous selection of 11 EQ center frequencies from 175Hz to 5.5kHz, plus a choice of three Q curves, lets you get get as surgically precise as you need to, zeroing in on problem areas while your program material remains eminently musical-sounding.

Tape and console emulator in one

Tape machines of the past have always been paired with mixing consoles: signals were recorded through a console's preamps and channel strips onto tape, then played back and mixed through the same desk. This all-analog sound and workflow are precisely what the Overloud Tapedesk plug-in promises to re-create in your sessions. Choose between three world-class console emulations to color your signal, then dig in hard to the virtual tape machine — based on an inimitable 2-inch 24-track of the late 1970s — to extract rich analog warmth, compression, and saturation. Tapedesk's low CPU load means you can use it across every single one of your tracks, just like yesterday's producers did in the analog domain. Looking for analog tape character? You'll find it here in the Overloud Tapedesk plug-in.

EQ84 magic

For their EQ84 plug-in, Overloud expertly modeled a classic 1970s British console preamp/equalizer module. The discrete Class A preamplifier and EQ circuits of this legendary module defined the sound of '70s rock and countless hit records. The 4-band EQ's rich, warm, fat sound and highly detailed midrange make it one of the most coveted equalizers ever made. For the EQ84, every component of the original circuit has been modeled, capturing the original hardware's fabled punch, saturation, and harmonics. The EQ84 also simulates the mic and line preamplifiers of this legendary module, both of which you can push to enrich your signal with deliciously musical saturation. Instantiate the Overloud EQ84 and put a pro audio legend to work on your tracks.

Makes tracks and full mixes come alive

Based on the impressive sound of two classic tape-encoding processors, the Overloud Dopamine Tape Encoding plug-in is exactly what you need to bring out the best in any track, sub-mix, or even full mixes. It's not an exciter or saturation-emulation effect, and that's an important distinction — Dopamine dynamically balances the existing harmonic content of your audio, avoiding the unpleasant artifacts some processors can cause. The result is audio that comes alive and sits better in the mix, without altering its original character. Best of all, the Overloud Dopamine Tape Encoding plug-in is light on your CPU.

Instant girth and harmonic richness

Overloud Sculptube is a processing plug-in that adds valve-generated harmonics to sounds for authentic tube coloration that goes from subtle warmth to heavy overdrive. Dial up mild Drive settings for adding warm analog coloration to individual tracks or mixes. Overdrive the input to re-create different kind of tube distortion, including Triode and Pentode curves. Due to its built-in EQ and parallel processor, Sculptube can be used to revive flat-sounding tracks by adding natural harmonics in the high-frequency range. The Bias knob controls the amount of "current" flowing through the virtual tubes. Low-current settings under bias the tubes for thinner, more break-up-prone tone. At medium-current settings the Sculptube distorts least; this is your go-to for simply warming up a track. At high current, the tubes are force fed and the tone becomes fat and harmonically rich. Take it from Sweetwater: Overloud SculpTube is a must-have addition to your processing arsenal.

Making a legendary EQ even better

The Overloud 550EQ plug-in is based on one of the most highly regarded console EQs in history — you know which one. And even if you don't, you've heard it on countless recordings, making guitars bite and snare drums pop with sonic distinction. Featuring a realistic simulation of the original proportional-Q equalizer, the 550EQ goes above and beyond the original hardware to offer continuous frequency selection — you'll have access to all the frequencies between the original's preset values. You also get the additional mid band that fans of the hardware always wanted. All this in an efficient plug-in that your CPU barely notices makes the Overloud 550EQ a great EQ solution that you can use on every track if you like.

The perfect flue for your mix

Overloud's Comp G isn't just another master bus compressor. Sure, it injects your mixes with the depth and punch you'd expect from a classic British VCA compressor. But this plug-in goes beyond the original hardware with advanced features like mid-side processing, parallel compression, and a sidechain EQ. Benefit from continuous ratio adjustment between 2:1 and 10:1. Take notes anywhere on the plug-in panel with Scribbles. Tweak without fear, thanks to multilevel undo/redo. Beyond that, you can make instant A/B comparisons and calibrate your meters at four different sensibilities. Complete with modest CPU usage, Comp G is the perfect tool for gluing your mixes together.

Ear-grabbing magnetic drum delays

ECHOSON is Overloud's digital re-creation of a legendary Italian magnetic drum delay hardware unit. If you dig Pink Floyd's 1970s-era recordings, you'll appreciate this plug-in. ECHOSON delivers a lush, ethereal sound with independent control of each virtual playback head. You get a stereo operating mode with separate left/right controls, plus a dual-mono mode. There's also a reverb mode that yields wide, otherworldly soundscapes. Adjustable disc speed permits you to change the plug-in's delay time, and there's a bpm option for synchronizing to your DAW. A built-in parametric EQ and adjustable wow/flutter and electrical noise round out ECHOSON's impressive features.

Legendary tube compressor — in a plug-in

The Comp670 is Overloud's plug-in rendition of a legendary hardware tube compressor/limiter. Meticulously sampled, the Comp670 captures the unique, warm, and distinctive sound of the original, enhanced by its 20 tubes; input, output, and inter-stage transformers, and vari-mu circuitry that dynamically changes compression ratio in response to the signal level. The Comp670 plug-in extends the feature set of the original hardware, combining the flexibility of the digital world along with classic fat analog sonic character. Overloud sampled three different units in London, Los Angeles, and Milan, capturing the subtle tonal personality of each — and you can switch between these with the Studio switch. You can also tweak a highpass filter on the sidechain to reduce the compressor's sensitivity to low frequencies, which is particularly useful for controlling the amount of pumping effect. Parallel compression is a powerful recording and mixing technique that helps to improve the overall impact of a track while leaving its transients intact. The Comp670 gives you a Dry/Wet dial that sums the compressor output in with the original dry track.

Analog-modeled multi-tap delay

OTD-2 Overloud Tapped Delay is a faithful digital re-creation of a hardware delay from the early 1980s. It offers stereo processing and gives you a 6-tap delay on each channel with individual panning controls. Three operating modes serve up simple repeats, reverb-like effects, and everything in between. This plug-in exhibits bucket brigade analog mojo by the truckload, yet it’s right at home in a modern DAW, with up to 1600ms of delay, BPM synchronization, multilevel undo/redo, A/B comparison, and factory presets that were created during actual mixing sessions. What’s more, OTD-2’s scribble strips enable you to take notes anywhere on the plug-in panel. OTD-2 gives you classic vintage character with all the benefits of a modern plug-in.

Legendary optical compressor plug-in for your DAW

The Overloud Comp LA Optical Compressor Plug-in Suite places the power of two classic optical compressors at your fingertips. This plug-in is a member of the Gem family and gives you access to the Comp 2A and the Comp 3A. The 2A — a favorite among the audio engineers at Sweetwater — has a warm and rich tone with noticable overtones. Its little brother, the Comp 3A, emulates the clean solid-state sound with a noticeably quicker attack. This plug-in also has added features such as separate Mid-Side processing, LF Sensitivity, and harmonic generation control. If you're a fan of the old-school optical compressor, you'll love the Overloud Comp LA Optical Compressor Plug-in Suite.
