Four Channels of 1073-Style Preamps with "Essential EQ"!

The Vintech Audio 473 features four 1073-style microphone preamplifiers for less than the price of one vintage 1073! The 473 includes "essential EQ" on every channel. Vintech calls the high and low shelving EQ adjustments "essential" because they really help to enhance certain instruments and impart a certain magic to the sound like a vintage Neve 1073. Frequency choices are 3.2kHz and 12kHz for the highs and 60Hz and 220Hz on the low shelving but can be special ordered at other practical frequencies. Each channel also offers an input sensitivity adjustment allowing up to 70db of gain, an input impedance switch, a mic-line switch, an instrument input and switches for phantom power, phase reverse and EQ on or off.

Requires an external power supply.

I have used almost every major preamp/eq/channel strip and console, along with some boutique custom preamps. And I love a lot of different preamps. Some of my favorites include Neve 1272, 1073, GML, Millenia HV-3D, Api, Forssell's, John Hardy's, Trident 80B, Neotek, Avalon, Grace m801, Manley, and more. I have used the Vintech 473, along with other preamps, for years on mostly rock, pop, and country tracking/overdub sessions, and it has never let me down. It's been a go-to pre for kick, snare, electric guitars, bass, keys, vocals, and percussion, and everything has always sounded great. The eq is versatile and sounds great too. This is also a great preamp if you want to add a little edge, warmth, or overdrive. It's easy to dirty up a sound in a good way with this pre. You can also keep things clean and punchy sounding. Build quality is excellent. I have used it daily for years in the studio without a glitch. For me, this is one of my favorite preamp/eqs ever. Yes, along with all those others, but I've never seen this one get the credit it deserves. To be completely transparent and not all gumdrops and roses. I generally prefer the Grace m801 or Millenia HV-3D for ribbons. Unless I want to add color to a piano, it's not my go-to for piano. But I'd be hard-pressed not to choose the 473 if I could only have one pre/eq in my rack. Or, if I were starting out today, the 473 would probably be the first preamp I'd pick up.

This thing is ridiculously good! From the input/output gain to the shelving EQs to the impedance switching, this vintage-style pre is a real performer. They do 'feel' like the famous preamp that they are modeled after, ranging from sweet and musical to fully saturated. The Vintech 473's four channels are some of my most used preamps.
