The Perfect Pedal Platform?

The Wampler Bravado tube amplifier head brings new meaning to the concept of sonic purity. Every aspect of this amp is designed to create the ultimate clean platform for your pedals, with all the punch and sparkle you'd expect from a premium tube amplifier. While some great-sounding amps completely fall apart when you engage your fuzz pedal, the Wampler Bravado remains tight and focused. And where some amps cause reverb and delay effects to flatten and confuse your tone, the Bravado handles them with depth and detail. Complete with a custom active effects loop — designed with master amp builder Dave Friedman — the Wampler Bravado tube head is the perfect amp to get the best sound out of your effects pedals.

40 watts of clean, vibrant tube tone

As a modern master of effects pedals, Brian Wampler knows what an amp needs to play nicely with pedals. The Bravado tube head packs 40 watts of power with 6L6 power tubes, which offer impressively clean headroom through the entire volume range. A 6-position Bright switch plus Bass, Middle, and Treble tone controls are all you need to fine-tune the amp's response to your guitar and pedal chain. And a Fat switch is present to add extra low-end power if you need it. Your guitar will ring out with plenty of harmonic complexity and detail, and you'll be ready to hear your pedals sound better than they ever have.

Custom active effects loop designed with Dave Friedman

We've played countless guitar amplifiers here at Sweetwater, and we know that some effects loops can have a negative effect on your tone. Some can dull your tone, or even make your pedals sound brighter than they should sound. Brian Wampler and amp guru Dave Friedman know it too, and they joined forces to create the custom series effects loop in the Bravado head. Delay and reverb effects have depth and detail, while modulation effects take on the fullest dimension your pedals can offer.

Ideal for any size guitar rig

The Wampler Bravado tube head can handle practically any speaker cabinet, with a knob to select 4-, 8-, or 16-ohm operation. An additional speaker cabinet output allows you to connect a second cabinet. The possibilities are enticing — one sweet setup would be a 2 x 12" speaker cabinet combined with a 15" speaker for extreme punch and low-end power.

Wampler Bravado Tube Amplifier Head Features:

  • Tube amp head with 40 watts of clean, open headroom
  • Designed to be the perfect platform for your effects pedals
  • Extremely punchy, harmonically rich tone across the entire volume range
  • Shape your tone with Bass, Middle, and Treble controls
  • Fat switch and 6-position Bright switch help you dial in the ideal response for your guitar and pedals
  • Series effects loop designed with Dave Friedman for maximum sonic purity and detail
  • Superior construction with custom-wound transformers and handwired turret board design

Great Amp

That Pedal Show has an episode on YouTube about this amp (That Pedal Show – Wampler Bravado: What Is A Pedal Platform Amp Anyway?) , you should watch it, it really sealed the deal for me.

I've had this amp for about 2 months, and I haven't had the chance to play with a band or drummer yet, but I'm sure it will be loud enough. I use it mainly for recording and practicing, so I got the Two Notes Torpedo Captor to use as an attenuator (-20db). With the captor I can run the volume at halfway for mostly clean tone, and use pedals for dirt and effects. I can also crank the volume all the way up and get pleasing distortion/crunch without blowing my eardrums out. Currently running into the Creamback side of a Peavey Invective 2x12 cabinet.

It's a pedal platform amp, and mostly stays out of the way when tone shaping. There is a fat switch and brightness control, as well as 3 band EQ for fine tuning. The brightness control is good for switching from humbuckers to single coils, I just flip it back and forth between the 2 middle settings whether using a Les Paul or a Tele. But I usually just run my pedalboard directly into the FX return on the back of the amp and bypass the preamp section altogether. It makes it easier for me to gain-stage my pedals without having the preamp tube color the sound or add distortion.

So far I love this amp, I don't think I will ever need to buy another one. A built-in attenuator would have been nice, but that problem has been solved. It sounds and feels great. Thanks Wampler!

Great Worship Amp

Great amp! Very adaptable to pedals both analog and digital. Also amazingly works well with both my Les Paul and Telecaster. The bright switch and the effects loop are great features. I don't know why but I was a little scared it would not have enough volume. DON'T BE!
