Of all the tools used by live sound engineers, one of the most important is the graphic EQ. A good EQ is worth its weight in gold when it comes to shaping and sculpting the front-of-house sound, and downright indispensable for controlling feedback. Experienced sound engineers get so familiar with their house EQ that they develop an ear for detecting a little feedback creeping in and instantly know exactly which band to cut to eliminate it. If you're looking to enhance your live sound PA system, adding or upgrading a graphic EQ is an excellent way to do it.
Sweetwater offers phenomenal choices for graphic EQ units. We carry single channel units with boost/cut ranges up to ±15db and easy-to-see output level indicators with peak lamps. We also have units with individual band counts topping out at 31 bands per channel, and stereo channel options up to 31 bands per side. Generally, you can expect more control with more bands. On the flip side, having fewer bands keeps things simpler. It's up to your personal preference whether you lean toward one option or the other. Regardless of which way you prefer, our graphic EQ units deliver amazing audio fidelity and solid construction in all formats.
Graphic equalizers are known for having a constant Q across all bands. In fact, this is what most folks would consider to be one of the main features that differentiates them from their parametric cousins. That said, we do have hybrid units that straddle that boundary offering a graphic EQ with adjustable Q settings. Some of these also integrate other desirable features and effects such as spectrum analyzers with auto-EQ and an onboard compressor/expander.
Some of our offerings come with advanced features you'll definitely want to check out. One of our favorites is an integrated feedback eliminator. This is a brilliant failsafe feature, often able to kick in and kill feedback before it turns into an unpleasant wail. Other available features include high pass and low pass filtering, XLR and TRS inputs and outputs, as well as dedicated mono subwoofer outputs.
Our selection of amazing sounding EQs is second to none. Whether you need wide boost/cut ranges, specific band counts, integrated compression, built-in tools such as feedback killers or even hybrid functionality like adjustable Q controls, we have a unit to suit your needs. If your main concern is fitting it into your rack, we have a number of models fitting 1U, 2U and 4U of rack space — as well as desktop options.
