16-channel Rack Mixer with Built-in Wi-Fi

Put a Mackie DL16S in your rack, and you can mix from anywhere. All you need is an iPad and Mackie's Master Fader control app. 16 great-sounding Onyx+ mic preamps and onboard FX ensure a great-sounding performance. The DL16S also functions as a 16-in/16-out USB interface, so you can record the show then mix it later in the studio. You can also play back a full multitrack recording for a virtual sound check. The DL16S supports up to 20 iPads at once, so multiple engineers can work from one mixer. And with built-in Wi-Fi networking and instant recall of every setting, setup is a snap. The DL16S gets you into your mix like never before.

Control everything from anywhere with wireless mixing

Leave that bulky snake at home! Because you can control the Mackie DL16S with your iPad, you can place it anywhere. Even if the DL16S is onstage, you can walk around the venue to fine-tune your mix. It's a great way to ensure optimal sound quality for every member of your audience. And because the DL16S supports up to 20 iPads at once, multiple engineers can work from one DL16S. You can even set up personal mixes for each performer that are tweakable via any iOS device. Back in the day, you would have needed miles of cable and a pile of submixers to pull off this much signal routing. But with the DL16S in your rack, all you need is an iPad and your fingers!

All your connections are covered

With the Mackie DL16S in your live rig, you'll never run short of I/O. Providing you with 16 stereo-linkable input channels, 8 fully assignable XLR outputs, and 16 great-sounding Onyx+ mic preamps, the DL16S has your I/O needs covered. On top of that, you also get 13 output buses, 6 stereo-linkable aux sends, 6 stereo-linkable subgroups, a Main L/R bus, and a headphone output. And best of all, the DL16S gives you total recall of your settings!

Integrated USB 2.0 audio interface

One of the Mackie DL16S's most useful features is multitrack recording and playback. Use the DL16S as an audio interface to record straight to your DAW. Play intermission music, backing tracks, and more. Play back your full multitrack recording for a virtual sound check. You can also use your DAW's audio plug-ins in a live environment. The DL16S is a value-packed, high-channel-count studio recording solution.

Create polished, professional-sounding mixes

Packed with DSP, the Mackie DL16S gives you 16 input channels with a 4-band parametric EQ, highpass filter, noise gate, and compression, as well as 13 output buses with a 4-band parametric EQ, highpass and lowpass filters, 31-band graphic EQ, compressor/limiter, and alignment delay. On top of that, you also get onboard delay, reverb, and modulation effects. With four stereo FX processors with dedicated sends and returns, full I/O routing with A/B sources per channel, and modern and vintage options for each processor, churning out polished, pro-quality mixes is no problem.

A large-format console in the palm of your hand

The Mackie DL16S supplies 16 channels of powerful digital mixing. You get wireless control over everything, including its processing and routing, via Mackie's Master Fader control app. The DL16S is tailor-made for live sound engineers who demand flexible wireless mixing. Used back and forth in US and Europe, even in the middle of a sandstorm!

Owned in chronological order:
1. Mackie DL1608, no complains at all, just don't like the need of an external router, but compare to its good work I kept it until upgrade.
2. QSC TouchMix 20, not so robust, sold.
3. Soundcraft Ui12, ni fulfilled expectations, many issues, sold it.
4. Soundcraft Ui16, many issues specially with wi-fi connection, did think to upgrade and sold.
5. Behringer X Air12, not enough channels, too few XLR channels, very weak wi-fi, sold it.
6. Behringer X Air XR18, too many issues with app, too many bugs, wi-fi too weak, sold it.
7. Mackie Dl806, same as the 1608, used for small gigs with a quartet only, sold it to gather more money for the new DL16S.
8. Soundcraft Ui24R... still have it since April 2017, is one of the best ever!

And this this the 9th mixer acquired, this DL16S was purchased after selling both the DL1608 and the DL806, I am a follower of new things that allow more capabilities and more innovation, this mixer just fit exactly what I wanted, not to carry an external router, strong and reliable wi-fi with dual band, and all the features that where on my older mixers (VLZ 24/4, VLZ16, CFX16, CFX12 and the digitals) with those Onix preamps.
I have trained my wife since she love to accompanied me to my gigs, to operate this mixer, my surprise was that in a few weeks she was capable to mix a Latin band composed of 3 horns, 2 percussions, piano, bass and me as the singer. Most of the good sound in my band's videos are made by her, this is in reality her opinion, because I always for more than 10 years got demonstrated by Mackie the superiority of their mixers, but her as a new user found as she says: "easy, very easy to use, everything is clear on the app, accessing all in less than one second". She just walk around the venue, approach each musician to ask how is the monitor mixing, what they want, and the performance run so good with that extraordinary crystal clear quality of sound.
On top of that since I purchased this mixer on May 2019, after using it for months in US, I have traveled to Spain, and guess what? I put it in my luggage and went to Europe, where I got some shows in Canary Islands, connected to the AC 220V... crossed my fingers... and voilá! it started working fine with all my shows intact! the best thing was everyone looked at the unit on the stage asking "what the hell is that!", but more surprised was when everyone saw my wife roaming around the place with an iPad controlling what the small band was doing on stage...
After more than a year, mixer has been on the most difficult environments, a few months ago a sandstorm hit us performing is a open venue, mixer dropped in one airport from one island to the other, travelled in an old propelled plane, dropped in another show and got a dent in the back, and even were used to provided sound for a bunch of artists in a festival in a public space sponsored by the Major of a city.
Pros: all that you read!
Cons: this is the only, prior version of Master Fader 5 had an issue with faders when touched jumped, but that was resolved with the latest 5.1.1 version.
In conclusion, if someone has the same situation that this -built like a tank- mixer have survived with me, is welcomed to posted, but it must be something besides my own experience. The true is who the hell in US purchased this mixer and used it in US and Europe, and even got a bunch of sand on it from a storm?

Great for House of Worship

This is a really ground-breaking product at this price point. I designed our small church sound system around this product, and can"t say enough good things about it, and the support I"ve received from Mackie/Loud Technologies. They always answer the phone and get me the help I need very quickly.

My new baby

I bought a DL32R and was very happy with the ease of use and ever expanding capability as well as progressively more user friendly upgrades. In doing pro live sound I like to be able to cover smaller venues which is why I was so stoked with the announcement of the MACKIE DL16S. It has lived up to the hype comes into the venue in a small case on a shoulder strap under my arm . I call it the milk carton. I did have a prob in the beginning updating the firmware but the Mackie tech had the simple solution the next business day on 2 occasions so I felt obligated to give the mixer top ratings. It is a small package with a lot of power and is very quick to set up. Because it can do so much you will be learning for a while but you can do a show probably within 30 min out of the box.The more you experiment the faster and better you can produce a fine live sound. I'd buy this unit again in a dead minute! And thanks Matt at Sweetwater for your excellent service and prompt delivery!

*Update* Great Piece of Equipment When it Works

I voiced my concerns and asked questions about the connection issues I had happen. Wayne, my sales rep, had tech support call me within an hour. It didn't take long to figure out that there was something physically wrong with the router (wifi card) in my DL16S mixer. Sweetwater shipped out a replacement the very same day! I have used this new mixer at all of our shows since. All I can say is that I am extremely satisfied with the mixer even though I had to reset all of my previous show settings. I am very paranoid with the onboard router so I took my own advice and use a dual band router with absolutely no problem. No drops, no hiccups, no crashes. I LOVE this mixer!

MACKIE DL16S WORKS GREAT

I had a behringer xr18air first and had to use separate wifi router, so I used same router with this mixer and older apple extreme and it works perfectly no connections issues . the layout is great and I use my ipad , iPhone to operate with out a hitch , waiting for mac software to come out . Compared to the Behringer this mixer is leaps and bounds ahead . The effects are great and easy to use unlike Behringer mixer. I highly recommend this mixer !!
