Get That "Vintage Sound!"

Everything you want from a large-diaphragm tube mic! The CV4 from Miktek manages to give you two things every studio engineer wants — amazing tube warmth plus extreme versatility. Forget those single-purpose mics that only sound good on male vocals or female vocals... when you invest in the CV4 large-diaphragm condenser microphone, you're getting a multipurpose studio workhorse. The versatility comes from the CV4's nine pickup patterns, easily selectable to tailor your sound to any source. You'll love the CV4 on the usual suspects, including vocalists and acoustic guitar. You'll be surprised, though, by how well the CV4's musical response works in a pair as overheads or as ambient room mics.

The heart of the Miktek CV4's sound comes from its AMI BT4 transformer and original NOS Telefunken EF800 tube — offering up a classic sound you'd expect from some of the earliest vintage tube microphones. All in all, the CV4 manages to gives you that artist-pleasing, producer-pleasing "big sound." The bottom end is warm, tight, and big, complete with present and even mids. And the highs? Sweet and airy, reminiscent of those vintage studio staples that drive a high price tag. And you get all of that, at unbeatable value, with the CV4. To round things out, Miktek's CV4 comes with a swivel mount in a wooden box, set inside an aluminum case, and complete with a power supply, a 7-pin XLR cable, and a shockmount. Worth every dollar.

Wow. A bargain.

I have the CV4 and CV3. CV4 works on baritones, altos, esp those with an edge. CV3 works great with airy voices, tenors, sopranos. Mic pre choice helps, obv., but these are stellar mics for the money. Stellar period. Oh, I also have a C5 pencil condenser, and that is stellar also. Michael and his team in Nashville make beautiful mics, affordable priced.

Exceptional Microphone

This microphone has completely exceeded my expectations. Let me start off by saying this is the first microphone I have ever written a review about, it is that good.. For this price point it is literally spectacular. If you can find this microphone used you should definitely buy it!! I record primarily vocals and wow it is a perfect microphone for that. This mic gives you a very balanced sound with a lovely high end that is not too sharp. The vocals I have recorded with this beast are huge and elegant. I will never need another microphone for vocals, this thing will do the trick for male and female vocals.. If you are having issues with mixing vocals this microphone will be the remedy. It will produce upfront full vocals with such detail and clarity, it is literally mind blowing. I have used the TLM 103 and the Mojave MA-200 and this microphone is significantly better than both of those microphones. Pair the Miktek with a clean preamp and say hello to sonic bliss!! :)

Perhaps The Ultimate Mic At Any Cost

After listening to a wide variety of wonderful microphones from many famous industry names, I really was blown away by the Miktek CV4. All the frequencies are active, and they are smooth and beautiful. But what really sets this mic apart, from any I've ever listened too, is the 3D sound-stage realism. As many reviewers pointed out, this thing literally makes singers float like they are in the room. It's astonishing. I would go as far as to say that the Miktek CV4 is the best vocal microphone in the world to my ears (which are experienced) on the planet. Nothing is lost. Use only the best Pre and you will be in sonic bliss. 5/5 and beyond.

my favourite tube mic

Was a happy CV3 owner for 4 years but always had my eye on its bigger brother once I had tried it. Did a shoot out with the Cv3, Cv4, Warm audio Wa 47,Neumann U87,and Peluso 2247SE - everyone agreed that on my vocals, the CV4 was by far the best suited. Wonderfully articulate sound with a classy and subtle tube growl in the mids that gives the right vocals, that extra 3D sound. It's the only mic I'm using these days. Also very nice on my Gibson acoustic, especially for picking.. My search for a mic is over. Can only recommend it..

Stop researching, and buy it

Tried this as a recommendation from Ryan Sloan, and couldn't be more happy. This thing should cost 3x what it does for how good it sounds!

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

When I heard we were going to start carrying Miktek I have to admit that I was a bit surprised. On the surface it felt like this may be another "me too" product in the category. Let me just say that this microphone sounded absolutely amazing. It represents a substantial leap forward in sound quality at the given price point. I'm going to suggest it to all my clients looking for a microphone in the price category. It won't disappoint. I suggest you check one out right away!

Chris McCown

We recently did a shootout with this mic, against mics costing almost five times as much. This one came out ahead and blew me away. It has a smooth top end and full bottom end - but the mids are the most difficult thing to get right in a microphone, and this one gets it right. Completely amazing, especially at this price. Looking for a new tube mic? You just found it!

Nick Schenkel

As a Sweetwater employee, we get to see and hear a lot of microphones. We just shot out the new Miktek line with several "studio standard" mics. The verdict is unanimous. Miktek owns this price point. I have never heard something so good at this affordable of a price. Buy one (or more). You will be amazed. It's that simple.
