Sweetwater Expands Staff With Nine New Hires

Fort Wayne, IN, June 9, 2006 - Sweetwater, the industry leader in professional audio and musical instrument retail, announces that the company has added nine new members to its staff.

Christopher Guerin joins Sweetwater as the Director of Program Development. Guerin previously served as the president of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic from 1985 to 2005. He will oversee program development, special music-related projects, corporate communications, and corporate public involvement. He received his Bachelor of Arts and master's degrees from Northern Illinois University, then served for six years with the Colorado Springs Symphony, first as the marketing director, then as assistant manager. In Fort Wayne, he presented nationally known musicians, both popular and classical, and helped to initiate innovative music programs, ranging from festivals to educational programs to concert series. He continues to serve in a number of roles with civic organizations in the community.

Daniel Fisher returns to Sweetwater as the Director of Product Optimization. In addition to managing special technology-related projects, he will develop soundware and other value-added products for the equipment Sweetwater retails. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Fisher holds Bachelor of Music degrees in music production and engineering and in music synthesis from Berklee College of Music. He is returning to Sweetwater after five years as an associate professor of music synthesis at Berklee and as a Web developer and usability director for John Hancock. He has been a keyboardist for the U.S. Army Rock Band and a synthesizer programmer for Kurzweil, Korg, and Alesis.

Joe Martell joins Sweetwater as a new Sales Engineer. Martell is a New York native and a recent graduate of Full Sail in Orlando, Florida. He's been involved in sales since the age of 13, when he began selling a product that his father, a racecar driver, developed to improve racing safety. Martell is both a percussionist and guitarist.

Indiana native Mike Hammond joins Sweetwater as a new Sales Engineer. Hammond has been writing and recording electronic music for more than twenty years. He has been a salesman for Mars Music and comes to Sweetwater from Crown Audio.

David Heinemann, Sales Engineer, is a Massachusetts native, where he graduated cum laude from Berklee College of Music. He has held a number of sales positions and most recently was a department manager with Guitar Center. His musical background includes computer-based film scoring.

Sales Engineer Ryan Sloan graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising and telecommunication production. He served as an intern with Joseph David Advertising and has been producing digital audio for six years. He is a native of Warsaw, Indiana.

A graduate of Purdue University, Sales Engineer Scott Wynn holds a degree in theatre design and technology. While at Purdue he was involved with both The Elliot Hall of Music and The Purdue University Theatre. He hails from Covington, Indiana.

Forrest Powell comes to Sweetwater from North Carolina as a new Sales Assistant. He is a vocalist, and plays piano and acoustic guitar. Powell has successfully sold both computers and custom furniture.

Ryan Thorpe, Sales Assistant, is a native of Greenwood, Indiana, and a graduate of the recording arts program at Full Sail. Thorpe served an internship at Echo Park Recording Studio in Bloomington, Indiana, and most recently worked for Guitar Center opening a new store in Greenwood.

"Our ongoing campaign to recruit qualified sales staff for new positions will continue indefinitely, particularly as we move into our new facility this fall," said Sweetwater founder and president Chuck Surack.
