New Marketing, Editorial Chiefs Add Depth to Sweetwater Bench

(Fort Wayne, Ind.) Sweetwater, the Fort Wayne-based retailer of audio equipment, guitars, keyboards, and computers, announced the hiring of Michael Ross, Director of Marketing, and Mitch Gallagher, Editorial Director.

Sweetwater founder and President Chuck Surack said Ross brings to the company a unique blend of advertising skills, technology awareness, and an understanding of music production. "Michael's advertising expertise, particularly in technology-related products, will be invaluable in further developing both consumer and professional markets," Surack said.

"I'm excited to be a part of the Sweetwater team as we set our sights on continued growth," said Ross. "As a Sweetwater customer, guitarist, and studio owner, I've experienced the company's industry-leading care and service firsthand. I want to make sure every musician and engineer in the country hears about Sweetwater and gives us the chance to demonstrate the Sweetwater Difference to them."

Ross was most recently Account Director for SWG&M advertising in Austin and El Paso, handling regional and national clients. He has filled virtually every agency role in the past 18 years, working as a print and broadcast writer and producer, and as an account director strategist. He has also served as Director of Communications for the University of Texas at El Paso.

Ross is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a B.A. in Advertising.

Gallagher is former Editor-in-Chief of EQ magazine and Senior Technical Editor of Keyboard magazine and has nearly 1000 articles, two books, and hundreds of seminars and classes to his credit. At Sweetwater, his goal will be to increase the effectiveness of all of the company's marketing and sales communications, with a particular focus on educating customers about the latest techniques and technologies.

This is actually Gallagher's second tour of duty with the company, having previously served as a Senior Sales Engineer and, later, in the Marketing Department. "We're always looking to hire the best, and when the opportunity arose to bring Mitch back, we immediately jumped at it," said Surack. "He brings an immense amount of knowledge, experience, and talent to the company in a wide variety of areas."

"I'm thrilled to be returning to Sweetwater. There's simply no other company like it in the industry," Gallagher says. "The level of customer service, professionalism, and company expertise was amazing when I worked here before, but now the level here is absolutely unbelievable."
