Sweetwater's GearFest 2018 Draws Record Crowds and Sales

Fort Wayne, IN, June 25, 2018 — Sweetwater's GearFest 2018 was a bigger success than ever, breaking every record established by previous events. Launched in 2002, Sweetwater's free, annual GearFest is the nation's largest customer-focused music and pro audio festival and trade show.

The two-day event held at Sweetwater's corporate headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana on June 22 & 23 welcomed guests from every state in the U.S. and several countries, including Australia, Germany, India, and Brazil.

Attendance was record-breaking, with more than 15,000 participants.

With more than a third of those attendees and vendors coming from out of town, it's estimated that GearFest's economic impact on the area was over $1.4 million.

Sweetwater Founder and President Chuck Surack remarked, "It is so exciting to be a part of GearFest as it continues to grow each year. One of the highlights for me is personally greeting thousands of our customers at the front door as they arrive and watching their enthusiasm for the event."

In total, GearFest included more than 200 workshops and seminars, including sessions on guitar, recording, live sound, music creation with computers, acoustics, songwriting, and how to use electronic instruments.

For those who couldn't attend GearFest in person, videos, photos, and updates were posted on Sweetwater's popular Facebook page, as well as on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter.

In addition, hourly prizes were given away, totaling more than $70,000 worth of music instruments and equipment.
