Surack Receives Sagamore of Wabash Award |
| Chuck Surack awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash Fort Wayne, IN, June 14, 2018 – Sweetwater founder and president Chuck Surack has received the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash award. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb surprised Surack with the award at the annual meeting of Greater Fort Wayne Inc., which was held Wednesday night at the Sweetwater Performance Pavilion on U.S. 30 in Fort Wayne. The Sagamore of the Wabash is one of the highest distinctions in Indiana, given to those who've shown exceptional service to their communities and the state and contributed greatly to Hoosier heritage. "I'm extremely honored to receive the Sagamore award," Surack said. "My wife Lisa and I feel strongly about giving back and serving others. We've invested in the Fort Wayne community and Indiana because we believe in the people who live and work here. To be recognized for that is truly humbling." "Chuck's story is a great example of the American dream: He started with a VW bus in 1979 and grew it into a globally recognized instrument and musical technology company," Gov. Holcomb said. "He cares deeply about his community and his neighbors. Throughout his life, Chuck has given his time, treasure and talent to improve the lives of northeast Indiana Hoosiers. He's a big part of why this is a such a special part of the state, and it's an honor for me to recognize all he's done on a stage in front of his friends, family and area leaders."
