Sweetwater Donates to "Gold" Campaign |
| Sweetwater Founder and President Chuck Surack recently presented a check for $50,000 to help kick off the "Gold for the City Campaign" for Fort Wayne's Unity Performing Arts Foundation (UPAF). UPAF exists to empower and develop young people in the areas of character, artistry, and leaderships. As a result, UPAF students are choosing to pursue a life of excellence over a life of violence, with more than 90 of its 130 alumni granduating from college since 2007. In 2010 and 2012, UPAF's Voices of Unity Chorus competed at the World Choir Games in China and Cincinatti, respectively, both times winning gold awards for their impassioned and professional performances. This year the games will be in Latvia, and the chorus has also been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall this summer. The "Gold for the City Campaign" will raise funds for both trips. Sweetwater and Chuck Surack have been strong supporters of UPAF, and its founder and CEO Marshall White, since it was established in 2000.
