Hi, my name is Aaron Rom, and I’ve been at Sweetwater since 2010. I loved the treatment I received as a customer, and I wanted to put my education to its best use, so I jumped at the chance to be a Sales Engineer. It has been an amazing ride so far!
Prior to Sweetwater, I was involved in a wide range of music-related projects. Chances are, if there was something that needed to be hit with sticks, I was doing it . . . whether it was the pit orchestra in high school, college percussion ensembles, a technical death metal band, or being the house drummer at a local jazz jam session. I got bit by the recording bug, which led me back to school to study recording and music business. I enjoy being on both sides of the glass as a musician and engineer as well as performing onstage. The creative process is fascinating to me!
All these experiences help me to take care of my customers and to provide the best service I can. It’s a fun and rewarding challenge to help customers find exactly what they need to satisfy their technical needs and inspire their creativity.

Bachelor’s degree in music business and an associate’s degree in recording arts from Full Sail University. Associate’s degree in music technology from Grand Rapids Community College. Apogee Certification, Apple Certification, Focusrite RedNet Certification, Pro Tools Certification, SSL Certification, Sweetwater University Instructor. Dante Level 2 Certified.

Where are you from originally?
I was born in Cleveland, OH. I’ve also spent time in Michigan and Florida, and I came to Sweetwater from Colorado.

Why did you first apply for a job at Sweetwater?
I loved the treatment I received as a customer, and I especially appreciated the honesty of my Sales Engineer at the time when I told him I wanted to come work here. It was definitely the right decision for me!

What did you dream about doing for a living when you were growing up?
I wanted to play drums in Genesis. Still do, as a matter of fact. Their concert videos from the 80s, along with their live albums, were and are a major inspiration.

What in your background prepared you most to help your customers with their audio needs?
I’ve been on both sides of the glass as an artist and an engineer/producer. If someone says, “I want this to sound purple,” I want to be able to utilize my technical knowledge and creative talents to help them achieve purple, blue, red, burnt sienna, or whatever color they want it to sound like!

What's the biggest gig you've ever played?
I played a concert in Antwerp, Belgium, that was broadcast throughout Belgium.

I like to think that all my customers are rock stars in their own way.
