Roland UA-25 Advanced and Standard Drivers

Drivers are programs that allow software applications and your computer to communicate with peripheral devices (audio interfaces, sound cards, printers, etc.). Most Edirol devices such as the UA-25 and the FA-101 use two different types of drivers (advanced and standard) to communicate with relevant software and the computer.

Advanced drivers allow high quality audio (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 96 kHz at a bit depth of 24) to be recorded and played back. When using MIDI and/or ASIO or MME compatible software, the advanced mode of operation should be implemented (advanced switch on). The Standard WDM driver (part of your Windows OS installation) will allow the use of 44.1 kHz audio at a bit depth of 16 to be recorded and played back. Operate in standard mode (advanced switch off) when you are using Windows based software with WDM (windows driver) and not using MIDI. When using Steinberg software, the ASIO driver will work the best. When using Cakewalk (SONAR) software, the MME driver will work the best. The WDM driver is suited for working with 16 bit Windows software.
