Founded in 1962, Takamine creates some of the finest acoustic guitars in the world. When Mass Hirade joined the company in the 60s, Takamine rapidly grew into the premier guitar manufacturer it is today. Hirade extended Takamine's reach into premium classical guitars, and facilitated the release of Takamine guitars to eager guitarists outside of Japan in 1975. Shortly thereafter, in 1978, Takamine began offering some of the world's earliest acoustic-electric guitars.
