Should I buy one or two more of these right now?February 22, 2009 Music Background: Gigging musician (DJ and band), Yes, I get paid. I'm an Ableton DJ, and I add a lot of improvisation / on the fly features to my mixes. The nanopad is an excellent companion. The pads can be us... read more [+]ed to trigger loops, but you can also have it retrigger loops on the 16th note, giving you stuttering effects. Combined with the roll and flam features, you can get some very interesting build ups when transitioning tracks. Also, if I enable this as a drum pad on an Impulse / drum machine track, I add samples over mixes. My recommendation is to set up a drum bank with some snares / kicks for use with the roll feature, then some vocal hits. This thing was INSTANTLY useful, set up time was zero, and I'm totally blown away by the value for the price. Also for all you circuit bent peeps, buy the pad and the keys, and a tube of PVC piping, and roll your own keytar. I use the nanopad with other more feature rich (and expensive) usb midi controllers, but you know what, the nanopad seems to get all the attention. For the price I paid for my other controller, I should have bought all three of the nano series. When it comes down to it, it's just more fun than anything else I own. close [-] Used to love it, until it gave up the ghost

I loved this controller, but it's headed for the trash bin, probably today. I've had it for only two years of very light use (just production work around the house, and not many hours of that) and now... read more [+] only half the pads are fully functional (four are dead, two work intermittently). The pads themselves are nice, the X/Y controller is a lot of fun. The editing software is unfun but functional. But none of that matters, as the build quality just isn't there. I'm going to try Akai, next (an MPD18 or an LPD8), as I have an LPK25 and really like it. close [-]

Good price, nice looking and worked well. For one session! The second time I hooked it up one of the pads stopped responding properly (the kick drum pad no less). Based on a few other user's findings ... read more [+]I don't want another and will try the Akai instead. Too cheaply made to be a good piece of equipment it seems. close [-]
