built like a tank

Guess this means I'm "officially" bringing thr iPad into my live performance rig (rather than just leaning it against my hi-hat stand on the floor and hoping for no spilled drinks). I generally buy K&M's stands and clamps for their robustness and precise manufacturing, and this tablet holder does not disappoint: It's sturdy, grips the iPad satisfyingly, and articulates enough that I could get it into what was probably the last 'blank spot" in my drum kit without having to move anything else. I haven't gigged with it yet, but all the friction adjusters governing those articulations engage positively, and I don't have any immediate concerns that it's going to come loose and flop down mid-set. The 90° rotation detents strike a pleasing balance between "too hard to move" and "suspiciously easy".

My two minor complaints center on the retention clips which actually grip the tablet: 1) While the thumbscrews are metal, the grip assembly is plastic (I would have preferred metal with a rubber grip surface) and 2) the "throat" (i.e., the maximum opening) is slightly less than the thickness of my iPad (9th gen) in its Targus case (total approx. 1cm), so I have to pop the tablet out to use the holder. The first affects my expectations of longevity — one reason I favor K&M is the fact that I still have workhorse K&M mic stands from 20yr+ ago — and the second is merely an issue of convenience. Neither is a showstopper.

I have four of these and no issues...

I have several of these including one that gets crammed onto a duffel bag with lots of other items and I do not have the problems some other guys see to have.

I am happy with the fit form and function.

Great tablet holder for large tablets

Finally, an iPad clamp that is both secure, and easy to get the tablet in and out… I've been looking for a holder that didn't necessitate removing the case, and this one fits the bill great! Photos are a 12.9" iPad Pro. If you're super lazy like me you can even leave the pencil connected! Clamp is only on 3 sides, which allows for a quick insert and removal, but is very secure. I would have no problem using this on a gig. It works great clamped to a mic boom stand for a compact setup that packs up easily as well. Bye bye music stands and trying to get everything positioned right! Construction quality is typical K&M, very high quality and well made. Mount also rotates to horizontal position if needed. Thanks to Bob Furlong for hooking me up!
